Deplorable!

the online photos look OK but wow can pictures be deceiving. this place does not belong on [...]or any other travel booking website. from the street it looks fine but enter the courtyard and you'll get an idea of what the rooms are like - it's dirty, run down. i had no heat 1 night and it was freezing. the hot water was not hot enough for a comfortable temperature shower, there was 1 light and it did not light the room well at all. it's a gross dump - i'm being generous when i say that.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at

If you like filthy, dirty hotel rooms and lousy service then this is the place for you. Hotel is located in one of the worst parts of Los Angeles so if you like the idea of possibly being robbed, personally accosted and your children molested, then this is the place for you. If you don't like it when you get there, tough. You will get no refund. Great place for prostitutes, drug dealers and criminals but no one else.

Cell like rooms at SRO with criminal and

Where Do I start? The room was cell, like with hand smears on walls, water ran from shower into room, dampening luggage, for lack of working curtain. Manager half dressed asked me to give him 10 minutes before he checked me in to do something secret behind the door. Pocketed my room key deposit. Why should there be a room key deposit? I checked out after the first night finding goggle entries pretaining to past closure, related to drug use and BED BUGS. [...]

The good

I just slept when I was there. If the motel has more hair lotion and dryer, it would be great. It was better than my last trip.

Not the best looking...

This hotel was the cheapest I found after searching for weeks. $70/per nite gets you a small room with just enough space for 2 adults. Stay somewhere else if you're looking for a hotel that looks clean and is somewhat luxurious. The decor did not match at all.. the bathroom was quite small, and can only fit 2 people at once if 1 person is using the toilet or shower, and the other person is using the sink. Im not kidding you.. it's just the way the bathroom was designed. In previous reviews I read prior to my trip, some said there weren't any towels, wash cloths, or even toilet paper available. This was not true in my case. I stayed for 6 nights and simply asked for new towels and toilet paper, and they were given to me without a problem. The 2 men who worked there were both friendly and helpful with the different questions and requests I had. I asked about the possibility of renting a bicycle, the cost, location, etc. and the morning shift guy offered 2 let me use 2 of his bikes instead. He was also very informant of the public transportation that was available. There's a few different buses that travel from the hotel to the Santa Monica Pier, the Promenade/Santa Monica Mall, Venice Beach, Marina del Rey, the airport, Hollywood, Universal Studios, etc. It was very easy getting around for only $1-$1.50. Overall, my stay at this hotel was fine, but I will probably spend the extra money staying at a nicer looking hotel the next time I visit.

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Take the bus or train! You will find everything you are looking for (shopping, dining, entertainment, nightlife, etc.) by literally walking across the street to the bus stop. It's only $1 or $1.50 for a transfer. You can even get from the LAX airport to the hotel for $1.50 instead of a $34 cab ride!

Horrible motel

Terrible experience. No windows, had to use an a/c unit stuck through the wall to keep it from being too muggy (it was only 70degrees outside and room was muggy). Room was tiny and everything was falling apart from the flooring to the bathroom cabinet. No amenities at all.

Cheapest Hotel & STILL not worth it!

The room was basically a bed and a dresser. No room for anything else. Really dirty and dingy. Had to kill a bug. The bathroom door didn't close. Noisy environment. I read a review that said the person rented a room cause they just needed a place to sleep and it served that purpose well. They must have slept like a log or it was a while ago when the room was cleaner, but the state of the room made even sleeping difficult. The staff that checked us in was really nice, and was the only place I didn't have to pay for parking in Santa Monica, but for 70 dollars, it was NOT worth it. I feel the money went to waste and we would have been better off sleeping in the car. We stayed in San Diego at a Days Inn the next night and for 50 dollars, the room was a hundred times better. I understand that it's Santa Monica, but it is STILL not worth 70 bucks. I'm not the kind of person that needs a nice hotel either, and I actually enjoy staying at more inexpensive ones, but this changed my mind about all that. No more picking the cheapest hotel on the list...
