Very Disappointing
Officially check in time is 3:00. We arrived at 5:30 to be told our room was not yet ready. We waited in the the lounge where the hotel provided us free drinks, but our reservation had specified two beds and our room had only one. They said a roll-away bed would be provided. However when we returned later from the wedding reception at 11:00 there was no extra bed for our son. He ended up sleeping on the couch. Also, the toilet did not work very well. We have stayed at other wonderful Marriott Hotels, especially the one in SF, but this was hugely disappointing. We checked out of this hotel at 8 a.m. not even staying to have breakfast.

Great holiday getaway
The initial room we were assigned looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed. As soon as I called, we were reassigned a room on the top floor with a partial ocean view (definitely above what we had paid for!). Everyone was great and there were bottles of water throughout the day and coffee available in the lobby in the morning. And it's on the beach in Santa Monica!

Sorry, but this hotel is way over-rated.
We have stayed here several times in the past 10 years, but it has been 4 years since our last visit. Very disappointed, the food was very disappointing and at the price you pay for staying close to the beach you would expect the food to be at least above average. Cora's and nearby Barney's were full of people from Le Merigot due to the poor quality. I could speak for hours about the breakfast buffet and what it lacked. The front desk staff was friendly, but the staff in the other areas go through the motions, I do NOT LIKE TO SEE employees sitting around smoking in common areas. 8 calls to the front desk for questions went unanswered. We were so excited to return here, but left disappointed and will not be returning.

Great Beach Hotel
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had an issue when we arrived because there were only rooms available with 1 king bed and we were a group of 3. They provided us with a roll-away bed for the night and then moved us to a room with 2 double beds the next day. The location to the beach and Santa Monica shopping and restaurants is perfect. We definitely will return.

Best room on this trip
Great service, excellent room, clean as can be, great views, walk to the Santa Monica Pier and downtown 3rd street, lots of great places to eat, nice pool, beach and atmosphere - great bed, linens and pillows

Great Hotel. Staff was extremely friendly, and the rooms were great. I would definately stay here again. It wasn't directly on the beach, but I didn't mind the short walk. Great for a relaxing weekend, if you just want to walk around Santa Monica

Le Merigot
The staff at Le Merigot were absolutely amazing! Each time we walked through the lobby we were offered complimentary beverages, tips on where to go for the day, and very friendly greetings. The room was one of the largest and nicest hotel rooms that I have ever stayed in, and the beds were extremely comfortable. I would recommend Le Merigot to anyone traveling to Santa Monica!

Nightlife tip:
Short drive from hotel
Going out on the Sunset Strip at night time was about a 20 minute cab ride, but well worth it if you want to see all that L.A. has to offer. If you are looking for fun near the hotel, try the 3rd Street Promenade or even Main Street has a few places that are fun- but nothing compares to Hollywood Nightlife.
