Amazing hotel and staff
My family stayed at the Embassy for a week, and it was fantastic. The one bedroom apartment had a fully equiped kitchen in which we cooked many meals and saved quite a bit of money by buying groceries instead of dining out. The rooms are very comfortable, fully furnished and generously sized. The rooms include built-in cabinetry and other architectural details and make each unique and special. It was more like staying in a lovely private home than a hotel. The location is superb--only two blocks to the Third Street Promenade to the south and two blocks to Palisades Park to the west. The building itself is an architectural treasure that has been impeccably maintained by the conscientious staff. Everyone at the hotel was very gracious and welcoming--the manager even learned our names and gave us plenty of practical help and advice. The housekeeping staff is extraordinary and work very hard to keep the hotel and guest rooms immaculate.

Short walk from hotel
There's a grocery store (Whole Foods) only a few blocks away at 5th and Wilshire. Restaurants in Santa Monica tend to be on the pricey side, so you can buy three days worth of groceries for the price of a single family dinner at a restaurant including taxes and the tip.

spacious and comfortable
i liked the embassy hotel in santa monica. the rooms were spacious and we enjoyed having a kitchen. parking is free, and there are many eateries within walking distance. if you're staying in winter or spring, i recommend having the hotel staff show you how to turn on the heat (vintage radiator) because they were a bit tricky. the only negative part of our stay was when a worker was scraping and painting some exterior ironwork on our windows at 8am. it was noisy, and at one point i was in the bathroom and there was the worker in my window. it was a minor inconvenience and i will definately stay there again when visiting santa monica.

one of the best deals in this very expensive and touristy part of town was the tea and scones at an english tea shop on 2nd street and broadway.

like a European hostel
No hotel reception after 8PM. Beds are bare bones, no HVAC system so no moving air, outdated and tight baths with shower in tub. The rooms are not nicely decorated. The internet connection did not work and there is no wireless. The TVs are analog and outdated. There is no nice amenity and food is several blocks away.

ビーチから数ブロック、ショッピング、レストランのある大きな通りからも数ブロックで、徒歩で行けます。たまたま、周辺で夜中に停電があったので、騒音がありましたが、通常は静かな環境だと思います。キッチンは設備も整っていますし、おいてあるコーヒーもおいしかったです。
