Very nice and comfortable.
We were checked in by a marvelous lady who was extremely helpful. Since other family members were to arrive for the memorial service, she was kind enough to let us know they had arrived so we could meet in the office. Breakfast was fantastic, plenty of room and a good selection. Only one problem, we left Comfort Inn one morning to return to Quality Inn in the afternoon. It made things confusing for those who arrived later in the week. It was still a great place to stay. The refrigerater and microwave actually worked, which they often do not a t pricier places.

We were sent to the grocery store which we requested, also excellent directions were given to the library and post office.

Not many options but a great night's stay.
Comfort Inn Santa Maria was the perfect choice for me. They had everything I needed, including the complementary toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, etc. in case you forget anything. The staff was nice and worked with me in everything I needed. Nevertheless, the night shift lady was rude at times and seemed to be there just to catch up on sleep... Other than that, my only real complaint wold be the dining area. Which was way too small for a hotel. Only a handful of tables. (I actually got lucky and caught a spot just as someone left so I didn't have to take my food back to my room.)

Bad Management
Santa Maria Comfort Inn was a motel ran by amateurs. It is a road side in with a lot of parking. The nearest beach anyone can go to enjoy restaurants and shops is 30 miles away. Most importantly they have no night crew that can clean or do repairs. If suddenly a room is flooded or electricity went out there is nothing they can do but wait until the next day. As for the continental breakfast they offer, even though the food is not that bad but the lobby where the breakfast is holds no more than 25 people to sit down, yet when the motel is full you have 50-100 people there trying to get breakfast. The situation is chaotic.

Entertainment tip:

Do not go to the Casino near Solvang if it is a Holiday week end. You will not find a slot machine to play because they are all taken, and on those weekends since there are plenty of customers, the casino reduces usual payments from these machines to very minimum.
