Super 8 Santa Cruz/Beach Boardwalk East

Hotel is typical older property but with larger rooms and updates to make it very comfortable and livable. Very clean, excellent helpful staff, good location two blocks from Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Room was spacious for this class of hotel. Free breakfast was basic but OK; no breakfast space but trays to take food back to room. Excellent value, clean, comfortable.

Overall this place was very good. The check-in process was quick and efficient. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and we found they will go out of their way to help guests. The room was very clean, and we were impressed with several things in the room. For example: an easy-clean remote/phone, a quality make-up remover, the usual amenities, etc. The decor/furniture in the room was also modern and appealing. Also, the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good - cereal/toast/english muffins/pastries/fruit/OJ/AJ/Coffee. Basically, a continental breakfast. There are 2 Super 8's on this street, pretty much across from each other. Make sure you book the correct one (Super 8 East). It's on the left side of the street (the street is one-way). Location is great, a few minutes to the beach, a few minutes to downtown.

Very nice, very clean rooms. We were impressed. This is an older hotel, but has been kept up very well.

Location is perfect for the Boardwalk and the beach.

We were able to walk to dinner and breakfast, if you want to go to a quiet beach without a ton of people, I suggest you drive north on Highway 1 to Davenport.

we stayed at this hotel based on its location and proximity to the santa cruz beach boardwalk and the beach. it is just a short walk from the hotel. the rooms are small, but clean and they appear as though they have been recently painted and updated with new bedding and curtains. although the room was close to the street, it wasn't overly noisy and our children (ages 2, 4 and 6) were able to sleep fine. we could hear the ppl in the room next door, but again, it didn't seem as though the walls were paper thin. the staff was friendly and helpful. the continental breakfast was good with a nice choice of food items and beverages. we did have to make a couple of trips back and forth between the lobby (where the food is set up) and our room as there isn't a dining room or tables set up. (the lobby is too small to accomodate diners) overall, for the price, this hotel was very good. if you want more amenities or larger rooms, you will pay for the luxury. we have stayed in more expensive hotel/motels and have not had as good an experience.

great location to visit Santa Cruz. Easy walk to the boardwalk or harbor. try Aldo's on the harbor for breakfast.

Place is literally 5 blocks from the famous Santa Cruz pier with fine dining. Newly remodeled, great beds and linens a plus.

We had 2 very comfortable nights. I cannot understand the poor ratings from previous visitors. Recently refurbished to a good standard by the friendly Patel family, superb bed, room with coffee-maker and simple-to-use microwave, which we used to heat up tasty produce we bought from a shop 50 yards away. The usual super-8 breakfast, with cereal (choice of 2), muffins and danish pastry, plus toast and jam. Good value indeed, even better if you get the $10 discount voucher from the tourist office.

It was a nice little new years getaway for a reasonable price. The room was clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff. What else can I say. It was really just a place to spend the night. I would stay there again.
