basically drove in and out but did view one the rooms a maid was cleaning and it was as bad as the exterior. trash was strewn in a couple of areas in the parking area. no way I was going to subject my wife to this mess. they have a non-cancelation policy which I will challenge with my credit card co. I expect an immediate email showing a credit to my card..

DO NOT STAY ON THIS HOTEL !

We reserved a room for the weekend of a triathlon in Santa Cruz. The room suppose to be 127 a night for 1 bed. We decided to upgrade to 2 bed and he charged us additional 60.00. From 127 it came 168.00 after all the taxes plus 60.00 for the upgrade and came up 228 a night ! We didnt have a choice but to stay on this nasty hotel ! Please do yourself a favor and do not stay on this hotel. DO NOT LET THE PICTURE FOOL YOU !

bad ownership. good area

Checking in was probably the the worst customer service considering the guy was really rude. Other than that, noting was special about the place besides the fact it was walking distance from the boardwalk and it was pretty cheap. Change owners and this place will definitely be better. Btw, NO REFUNDS.

Great for a quick getaway

Based on the reviews here for this hotel, I was really dreading this place. However, once we got there it turned out to be pretty cool. Pros: -LOCATION! This place is a five minute walk from the Boardwalk and the wharf, and a 15-20 minute walk from downtown Santa Cruz. Cannot be beat. -The room had a separate bedroom and a little living room with a foldout bed in the couch. We ended up sleeping on the foldout bed because the TV was out there. Quite comfy. -Shower had good water pressure and was nice and hot. -Lots of spare pillows and towels. -Price. $79/night (including taxes). Great. -Decent amount of parking by hotel. Cons: -Staff was friendly enough but wasn't crystal clear on everything. -Room wasn't 100% clean, but the problems were minor. A little stain on the carpet, some chipping paint in the bathroom, plus the room had kind of a weird smell. I got used to it quickly so it didn't bother me. -Our room had a broken door latch so we had a doorknob with traditional metal key instead of the usual cardkey swipe setup. It made me a bit nervous but it turned out to be fine. -Was a bit noisy at night but we used the room as a crashpad for a day at the beach and boardwalk so we passed out quickly after we got back. -Swimming pool was very small. We didn't swim in it. Like I said, the problems with the room were minor. It was cheap, very close to the beach and boardwalk, and comfortable. I was very pleased with the room for the price and location. If you're bothered by a less than stellar but acceptable room, spend more money elsewhere. otherwise, this place is a good value for a quick trip.

I got what I paid for

Nothing extraordinary to say, I got exactly what I expected and what I paid for, nothing more, nothing less. For a night you don't need much else besides a bed and that's what I got in a great location. I was able to walk everywhere and had no troubles.

Not recommended

This place is near to the beach boardwalk, and it's the reason why I reserved online. The bed was okay but everything elses are depressing. The stool was old and discolour that you don't even want to sit in. I even saw a cockroachā€˜s leg in the bathtub, which made me give up my hot shower after a long day. Not recommended.

Questionable

This hotel is close to the boardwalk, but not 100 feet. Parking free but if you do not check in early you may not get a spot. The mirrors in the room are semi screwed to the walls, very interesting to say the least. There is alot of patch work to the drywall. It could be a nice place if someone took the time to fix it up correctly. It was not worth the amount of money we paid to stay.

Horrible!!

Staying at Paradise Inn was a HORRIBLE experience! I am NEVER going there again! - front desk man was surly/inhospitable - had to pay $5 per child in CASH. He wouldn't charge my card even though the room was being charged. No ATM machine so that meant leaving the premises to get cash. This cash is being pocketed :( - only got 2 extra pillows even through we paid for our 3 kids to stay in the room - black mold around the bathroom window -paint bubbling above the shower - horribly stained seat cusions on chairs...not fit to be sat upon! - wifi didn't work even with the password - TV/Direct TV not properly connected - stained disgusting carpet - old furniture - I got bug bites while I slept! - It was soooo loud at night. We couldn't sleep a wink! HOrrible :( -parking stalls were too small so we had to park elsewhere

Very Basic Room

We came to Santa Cruz for one night and spent the day at the Boardwalk. We just needed a place to sleep for the night and this Hotel was in perfect walking distance. Check in was fast and simple which was pleasing because I had a reservation. The room was non smoking which was nice because I'm used to Casino hotels that reek with that smoke smell. The room was overall very basic that included a microwave, Tv, and desk. No fridge or coffee maker. The soaps and shampoo wasn't fancy or anything worth bringing home with you. I recommend packing your own. The thing I found strange was the Air Conditioner didn't work. I don't know if that's the way SC hotels are or if it was just broken. I slept with the window open which was fine when the noise died down. Another odd incident was in the morning I had my room door open to get fresh air and the man from the front desk came up and almost let himself in but then realized he was in the wrong room. He seemed to be a busy body in everyones business. It could be because it was his hotel. I don't know. It just felt a little odd. Overall the place served its purpose for a single nights stay. I don't think I would stay there longer than that. It didn't have that wow factor.
