Not so great.

The only part of the motel that was good was the location. It was close to the boardwalk and pier. The rooms had peeling paint, chair that was stuffed in the half closet, bathtub had no handle except on the shower control and TV service was on and off. Windows had no screens and needed better locks. Overall, I would never go back to this place.

Should be condemned and leveled

First I go to check in and the lady doesn't speak English, but she gives me my key. I go to the room and it is disgusting. It smells horrible like a locker room, the carpets are dirty and ripped up, and the T.V. doesn't work. I go into the bathroom and the $10.00 showerhead has a $4.00 roll of duct tape wrapped around it. Turn the shower on and most of the water is coming through the seams in the duct tape and not out of the head itself, so taking a shower was a tricky endeavor, with water going everywhere. It had obviously been this way for awhile since mold was growing. I go to use the bathroom sink and that faucet wasn't even bolted to the sink. At 10:00PM her husband comes to my room while I'm eating to tell me that I have to come to the office to finish checking in. So I leave my dinner to get cold to accommodate this jerk and it takes him about 20 minutes to check me in because he arguing with me and wants me to use a different credit card than the one I used to make my reservation. At check out he didn't even want to give me a receipt.

NASTY

There was a condom wrapper and empty pill wrapper under the bed, nasty stains on the sheets. The man at the front desk said he wouldn't sleep in the bed but that we couldn't have our money back.

Great Stay

I was traveling the Pacific Coast Highway and needed a place to stay. I stumbled upon this hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price. The room was comfortable and served the purpose I needed which was a short visit for a reasonable price.

Great location

Great location a stones throw from the boardwalk. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The room was average, but clean, and had everything I needed for an overnight trip to the boardwalk.

Paradise Inn by the Beach, July 2010

The place was noisy with thin walls, smelly and not clean. The room door would not lock when we would leave - we wasted about an hour with the hotel staff trying to fix the door lock and replacing pass keys. The pillows smelled and were a dark color instead of white, so you could not tell if they were clean or not. All of the screws were loose in the door dead-bolt. In defense of the hotel, it was July 4th weekend, so it may normally not be so loud, and the staff was basically friendly. However, the rest of the problem items aren't a result of the time of year. This place is definitely a dive more than a boutique hotel. We left before midnight and went back home. Fortunately we only live about 30-miles over the mountains from Santa Cruz, unfortunately I don't think the other patrons had the same options if they were having the same experience.

Even if you're going to this location to go to the Boardwalk during the day and party late in the evening, I suggest to bring your own bedding, some sanitizing wipes and a door-stop if you're going to stay in this hotel

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at

[...] Staff didn't seem to be well-trained. The place don't have AC, the screen of the front window is broken, and the staff I talked to didn't mention about check out time - which later almost got us to pay extra ($25) because we planned to check out at 12noon instead of their check out time - 11am. Also, requesting for late check out (1 hr. later than check out time) was not allowed without a charge. Staff weren't helpful AT ALL. Will NEVER stay at this hotel again.

Not in this lifetime

When we checked it is was fast and easy but once we got the room it was a nightmare. There was big holes in the walls that had not been patched up. We got a NON smoking room but yet smelled like someone was in there smoking away. There was sewage coming up in the sink in the bathroom and had several fire code violations. I had to have a speaking to the owner who ended up moving us to the Ramada. I will never sugguest this to anyone if this is a last resort you may want to pack a tent!!

Room was clean for the most part, but maintenence wasn't kept up on it. The bathroom didn't even have a switch to turn it from the faucet to the shower head and the room smelled like smoke even though it was a non smoking room.
