Mountain resort with antique charm at Pasatiempo Golf Course

Inn at Pasatiempo is a quaint, reasonably priced hotel on Hwy 17 in the Santa Cruz foothills at Pasatiempo Golf Course. The restored building recalls mid-century Santa Cruz and charms guests with homey French countryside decor. An on-site and award-winning steakhouse, pleasant park-like landscaping and heated pool appeal to both families and couples. A relaxing alternative to staying in the city center, the Inn at Pasatiempo is only a ten-minute drive to the beach.

Highlights

  • Complimentary continental breakfast
  • Pretty garden, lawn and heated outdoor pool
  • Adjacent to Pasatiempo Golf Course, a top 100 U.S. golf course
  • Pets welcome (fees apply)
  • Free Wi-Fi

Rooms

The Inn at Pasatiempo is a small-scale property with 54 cottage-like rooms and three suites. Carved wood furniture, four-post beds, cozy quilts and wood shutters are French country touches. All rooms have king or queen size beds, triple sheet bedding, refrigerators, coffee-makers, vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards. Suites also have cozy fireplaces, jet bathtubs, iPod docks, sofa sleepers and garden views. Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access is available. All are non-smoking and some are ADA-compliant.

Features

On sunny California days, the lawn and outdoor patio at the Inn at Pasatiempo are especially inviting and, not surprisingly, a popular wedding site. A complimentary continental breakfast of pastries, fruit and coffee is served daily except Sunday, when the steakhouse features a well-priced brunch buffet. A golf-themed bar serves after-rounds cocktails. Daily lunch and dinner service at the cozy wood-paneled Peachwood's Steakhouse features 20-oz. Porter House steaks and vegetarian entrees grilled over peach wood. Dine encircled by northern California palms and fir trees on the summer sundeck. Limited room service is also available. Cross the lawn to the lap pool (heated April through September) to grab a lounge chair on the natural stone patio. Additional amenities at Inn at Pasatiempo include dry cleaning services, a 24-hour front desk with safe deposit boxes and free self-parking.

Cute and Cozy NEEDS NEW CARPETS!!

The beds were comfortable and sheets were amazing. Egyptian cotton quality! Rooms did not have microwave nor did the continental breakfast. They must be cutting down on electricity? Very disappointed in the breakfast, ridiculous for such a comfy ambiance. I will stay again, if they update carpets and add to their breakfast.

Close enough to the beach and downtown Santa Cruz but not in the middle of the chaos.

Mediocre

Medicore room. Door was very light and lots of outside noise and drafts. Could hear the ice machine, soda machine, and maid's closet outside throughout the day and evening. Room was bland and boring with outdated artwork and very loud fans and heating.

A great place

Beautiful site and grounds ... simple continental breakfast. Only complaint is that our mattress had a crinkley plastic pad cover. After it warmed up it was quite but that reminded me of being a kid. Not accustomed to such in a nice hotel.

very comfortable, attractive, good value

My family reserved three different rooms at this hotel. We all found the rooms to be nice and the beds very comfortable. It was a great value for the price. I would definitely stay here again. Everything was great!

Linda's in Santa Cruz has an excellent breakfast! Only for when you are not in a hurry, as this is a popular restaurant, although they offer coffee while you wait.

Pleasant but not pleasant enough.

The location is great, there were plenty of pillows and that is about it. Access to the city was great, but so close to the freeway meant noise. The room was older and lacking a desk. Free Internet but no place to setup your laptop. It was an over-priced motel six with more pillows.
