We stayed one night at the hotel. We got our froom and when we walked in I discovered there was no towels in the room. the tub had hair in it and a water bug crawling around. The room did not look very clean. We called the front desk and asked
them if we could change rooms. They graciously upgraded us to a king size bedroom. When we got to the room it has been cleaned and has towels in it, however, the rooms are very outdated. Stains on the carpet and cracked tiles. But a decent room for the value
The bed I slept in was horriable!! mattress was harder than a box spring. woke up in the middle of the night in so much pain, had to sleep the rest of the night on the floor. staff came in the next morning to look at the mattress and said yea it
is hard.. never ever had that experience.. not to mention floor was gross.. Don't think that carpet every came in contact with a carpet cleaner..
Took the wife and 7 year old daughter and 10 year old grand child for Easter weekend fun at the beach and boardwalk. Don't know if that's exactly why it costed about $225 a night with all the fees and taxes, because of it being a holiday weekend
or if that's just how it is in Santa Cruz. Either way, still feel it was over priced for the room (about 200 sqft) we got that had a king bed and pull out soda, with a mini fridge, mini microwave and a mini coffee maker. The room cleanliness and comfort was average. The free breakfast they offer is your basic little cafeteria with dry cereal, danishes, coffee, milk and juice along with a waffle maker. 3 stars I gave is a bit generous, but the staff and close proximity to the beach is the high points. The low point would be that it was noisy as all get out, from the bathrooms flushing and water running to the people out by the pool to the herd of kids right above us running and jumping till midnight. Just be prepared for the noise. And no, I would not come back here again nor recommend it, unless your a young adult who doesn't mind that sort of stuff, which is why there was probably so many young people there to begin with.
Good place for a stop when traveling down to south California
The hotel is located less than 10 minutes walk from the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It is clean and comfortable, rooms are big and the staff is nice and helpful. It is not the fanciest place I've ever seen but it is a perfect location if
you are looking for an easy going place to spend a weekend or to stop a couple of nights while driving down to south California (as my friends and I did).
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Ideal Bar & Grill at 106 Beach Street is a great not expensive spot for late dinner, with a beautiful view directly on the seaside!
