Pleasant budget hotel with an outdoor pool at Routes 1 and 17
Comfort Inn Santa Cruz is convenient for highway travelers to Santa Cruz. This hotel is located at the crossroads of highways 1 and 17 in a suburban area, with downtown Santa Cruz and beaches just a two-minute drive away. Anniversary trip
This stay is was not enjoyable at all. We asked for a non smoking room and all they had was smoking when we had a reservation. There were plug outlets in the wall covered over by wallpaper. Not enjoyable don't go.

Reasonable for the price in Santa Cruz
The room is decent for the price, in comparison to what you can get in Santa Cruz. Hotel staff is not so friendly. The breakfast was fair. Overall I rate this hotel a 3.

lots of cliches
There did not appear to be enough staff for the number of people staying in the hotel. We had to request our extra bed three times and then were told that if there wasn't one on the second floor where we were staying that we would have to carry it up the stairs! Fortunately, that was not the case. We locked our room and left for the day, When we returned many hours later, we found our door open. Initially the staff was not overly concerned and said something to the effect that the maids were just cleaning although that was not the case. Then our keys demagnitized 6 times which they also tried to explain was partially our fault. We went up and down those stairs many times! I believe more staff and better supervision and customer training would be helpful.

Swingy
More than decent!
Very central location and easy accessibility to freeways. Friendly staff and rooms/linen were clean. My kids made use of the pool as well. Fresh waffles were a plus though the breakfast room can get crowded, depending on time. The central location also turns this into a busy crowded area with lots of traffic and people walking about so if you are looking for a secluded environment, then you might be little disappointed.

My 18 year old son, could not check in without tremendous difficulty. Although the room was prepaid, the hotel required my ID and written authorization to cover additional expenses. The whole process was complicated and not necessary for an 18 year old man.

Convenient location, reasonable rates
Enjoyed the walk at West Cliff Drive. Weather excellent this time of year. Previous trips have all been the same, that's why we stay here.

Beach getaway
Hotel was okay. Average and nothing special. Prices was fair. Room was clean and spacious. Altho, the bathroom was weird, and exhaust was super noisy and loud.

Great local dining places around. There's a Denny's right across the street if craving other food. Hotel is conveniently located right next to the freeway.
