Much improved
Read all the previous reviews and was a little worried, but took a chance and was totally satisfied. Pool is small, but your three blocks from the ocean. Swim there. They are in the middle of renovations, but you could hardly tell. no noise at all. Our room was like brand new. We walked every place we wanted to go because of the great location. Use Orbitz to get best deal. Overall I was totally satisfied, they even had jumper cables when my rental would not start. Thanks Orbitz and Comfort Inn.

Santa Cruz
The hotel was just okay - clean and provided the necessities. What tourists don't realize is that the Santa Cruz boardwalk area is NOT a nice area. It is rundown and not a great area for walking at night! After dinner we were approached several times asking for food or leftovers! Walking back to hotel we had to skirt around several drunks. If you want to stay in the Santa Cruz area look at the Capitolla area which is still Santa Cruz but MUCH nicer!

Go into Capotolla Village for a nice area of beaches and restaurants.

Good location
We chose this hotel because it was close to the boardwalk and within our price range. Staff was nice and breakfast was decent. The rooms could be cleaner. We were able to park our car in the parking lot and didn't have to use it until we checked out. It was surprisingly quiet.

Short walk from hotel
Riva's on the wharf was the best meal we had! Delicious seafood, great service. Make sure you bring cash because they don't take credit cards.
