A prime city beach location without the frills
It doesn't get much closer to the beach in Santa Cruz than the Beach View Inn across the street from the Municipal Wharf and famous Beach Boardwalk. Sparse amenities at this budget motel ensure a simple and hassle-free stay for those whose ideal beach vacation involves ample time in the sun, sand and surf. See the Pacific Ocean from some rooms. Downtown is a half mile inland or reach University of California Santa Cruz in five minutes drive time.

Hot Rods on the Beach Stay
The person at the front desk was very nice. The room(s) are VERY dated. The carpet isn't torn, but it's VERY worn out. I had to leave the window open because it had a very strong smell of Hexol. The mattress felt like I was laying on a box spring, could not sleep the entire night!

The location is a short walk to the Boardwalk and other attractions. Lots of appealing eateries nearby. The room was clean but very basic. The room seemed to be set up for one (only 1 bath towel & shampoo), even though reservation was for two.

Great Deal!
Great room for the price. We have a five year old and the walk to the beach was super close. The room was clean, not fancy but you should spend most of your time at the beach not lounging around your room. The air conditioning was weak and it was warm, but opening the windows and door took care of the climate. I loved that there was a tub for my son and the convenience of a microwave and fridge.

friendly and clean
The biggest advantage to this motel is it's location - only half a block from the beach. It is just up from the entrance to the wharf, enough removed from the Boardwalk noise to be peaceful. Standard queen room was small and bed was old. Breakfast consisted of cold cereal and packaged pastry. The room had a fridge and small microwave though. The young couple running the place were very friendly and helpful with recommendations.

We will stay here again!
It was so nice to be only a half block to the beach and wharf. We walked to everything we wanted to do. The motel is clean and had everything we needed. Our favorite part was meeting and talking to the young couple who run the place. They are super nice. We feel like the value for the price is excellent.

The seafood restaurants on the wharf are excellent. We ate dinner at one and had fresh seafood for only 8.95!

Great Value for the Money
This hotel was conveniently located 1/2 block from the wharf/pier, 1 block from the boardwalk, and a 15 minute walk from downtown Santa Cruz. The staff were very friendly and helpful! If you don't mind a squeeky bed I highly recommend this place! We will be staying there again!

There is a fantastic coffee shop that we were directed to by hotel staff that is just a 15 minute walk to downtown Santa Cruz. If you have the time check out Santa Cruz Roasting Company! They definitely kept our taste buds happy and our brains highly caffeinated!

Modest and clean
This place was fine for the money - nothing fancy, but everything seemed clean, at least for a 3 start hotel in Santa Cruz! The rooms are quite spartan - I was glad there was no TV, but there was also no clock (the microwave maybe had a clock, but the clock was broken..) The couple running the place were very nice and helpful when we wanted some extra sheets for our young kids who were sleeping on the floor.
