Great Santa Barbara value accommodations
The Sandman Inn is located on 4.5 acres of nicely landscaped grounds with a hot tub and two outdoor heated swimming pools. A daily, free continental breakfast buffet gives guests the perfect way to start the day off right. Great overnight stay.
The Sandman is a very lovely older Motel. Our room had been completly refurbished and was fine, An outstanding value for Santa Barbara.We were upgraded to poolside and would definetly stay there again. Very friendly Reception.Basic but adequate Breakfest. We used it to stay the night after a Performance.

Excellent Value in a Prime Location
My Sandman room was clean, the staff friendly, the pool and breakfast fine. For a great location in lovely Santa Barbara, you may not find a better value!

Frustrated in LA
Surprisingly nice!
Lots of little niceties - usb charger/ipod dock in the alarm clock, free bottled water, two pools (one a wee bit dirty) plus a lovely hot tub, DVD player and a large TV, free internet (a bit intermittent), fridge, microwave. Adequate number of pillows. The closet area in our room was behind the door in a nice little nook where we could fit our baby's pack n' play. Shower but no tub. Rooms well removed from street, noise level was nice, plenty of parking. Will stay here again!

Secret gem
great, modernized motel with all amenities you need. continental breakfast included and great pool/spa areas. comfortable room, loved the dvd rental at the front desk. towels were a little dingy and nicks in wall, but overall pretty clean and nice for a 2 star hotel. great value!

Very Pleasant Experience
My ratings are based on my expectations for a 2 Star hotel. In every way, this motel exceeded my expectations. The room had every normal amenity (Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, wifi, iron, hair dryer, DVD player) plus some nice surprises: two FREE bottles of water; an extensive free DVD loaner library, and an iPod docking station built into the radio. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Windows and window coverings have recently been upgraded and everything (inside and out) was freshly painted. Very extensive Continental breakfast in a dining area decorated like an old diner. Gardenting and grounds were extremely well maintained. Will definitely stay here again. Only things lacking were the furnishings are somewhat older (but in good condition) and the WIFI speed was minimal.

Good value for good location in upper State Street
Positives: Good location on Upper State Street, close enough to Highway 101 but not so close that you can hear traffic. Shopping right down the street, plus restaurants Pizza Guru and Max’s (both worth visiting). Pool heated to pleasant temperature, plus Jacuzzi. Large rooms with DVD, and front desk has large selection of free DVDs to borrow. Refrigerator and microwave, plus free wifi. Free parking plus free breakfast in cute 50s-style mini-diner. The waffles were fair, but they have cereals, donuts, pastries, bagels, hard-boiled eggs and yogurts. Negatives: Thin towels, so-so beds. Overall: Excellent value. Friendly front desk staff. Found great rate on this site, too.

Pleasant Surprise!
the place although on the higher range of a motel type...rooms are basics but clean. Bathroom didn't have a bathand the shower could use a little renovation. The room is spacious and the bed comfortable enough. Complementary are small stuffs like toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, than even well known hotel chains do not usually provide...Breakfeast in a great deal with everything a typical continental breakfeast can offer. Big downside: internet connection is unreliable and keeps on dropping. If you have to stay log in for a long period of time this will be an issue, unless you go to the front desk. Overall, a great choice for 1 or 2 nights in town.
