lovely place with beautiful decor

I have stayed in many different places in Santa Barbara. This was the best location as you are downtown where all the restaurants are. It's easy to get to the beach on the shuttle so you never have to drive. The roof top pool was great!

Great shopping and dining in all directions and all within walking distance which is helpful because finding street parking is a pain.

Beautiful Hotel in a Great City

This is a beautiful hotel in a great part of the city. We let the valet park the car and didn't need it again until we checked out. There is great dining, shopping and entertainment all within walking distance. The room was large and beautifully furnished, and was well maintained by the hotel staff during our stay. The roof top has a great pool and spa area as well as a nice place to relax. We had breakfast on the roof and enjoyed the mornings with a great view.

Luxury in a central location

The room was very quiet, and had a large screen TV and bathrobe and coffee/tea maker, etc. It is just a block from State Street, the main drag, and is right in the middle of town.

Great Location, Beautiful Hotel

The staff was extremely friendly from the moment we pulled up. The room was beautiful, I felt like I was staying in a house that had been personally decorated. The canopy bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The rooftop has a beautiful pool. Go early if you want a seat, there were several people waiting when I went mid afternoon. The only disappointment in staying at the Canary was the roof deck was reserved for private events Friday night and Saturday afternoon/night so we couldn't enjoy it. The room service was great! I didn't eat at the hotel but did go for a drink and it was a very nice place.

I had dinners at Bouchon and Julienne both in walking distance. Both meals were delicious! Julienne has the option of a tasting menu.

Canary Hotel

The hotel was wonderful. The feel, the decor, the staff and especially the pool. The bathroom was poorly designed, and did not have a fan. It also had bad lighting.

Did not meet expectations

We love Santa Barbara and enjoy spending time in both the city and at the beach. This was our first time staying at this hotel and it did not meet our expectations. It's hard to say what the high price per night is going towards. The pros: nice decor, the bed was amazingly comfortable. The cons: staff wasn't very nice, the lobby smelled like fish, accommodations aren't even worth mentioning, and thin walls (noise from other rooms not from the street). Overall, our stay was disappointing.
