Homestead Motel

I got my reservation, paid for my room, then when I get there, they tell me they sold my room, and I have to pay an upcharge for a better room. I get my key, go to open the door to my room, and somebody is already in there. Then they tell me the people in my room were supposed to be in the next room, but both rooms have the same key. So they give me the room next door, that the people in my room were supposed to be in (with the same key). They were only there for a couple hours though, and didn't spend the night.... DON"T STAY HERE!!!!!

The hotel location was conveniently located to the freeway and many eating place which I think was its major highlight. The room was clean. The bed needed help as it sagged in the middle. I brought it to the attention of the staff but nothing was done about except "we will look at it tomorrow". The pool was closed for renovation. Overall a basic place to stay but would not stay again. Will pay extra money for a better place next time.

Location was good. 10 minute drive to the beach. Hotel Management nice -- provided extra towels. Bathroom sink did not have hot water, but shower did have hot water. Floors FILTHY -- must wear shoes in the room--otherwise, you will have black feet. Recommended only as a "place to crash".

We had two rooms. When we got there the manager said I had canceled one of my rooms and was complaining about loosing money,etc. I told him I had my paperwork in the car showing my reservations and how I had canceled one room and booked another because the guy I booked with had me down for one king bed in one of the rooms and I had asked for 2 queens as I didn't want to sleep with my Mom. There weren't enough towels in the rooms and the rooms smelt with a cleaning or musty smell. We were going to stay 3 nites and went home the morning after the 2nd nite and didn't stay the 3rd nite. I went to turn my keys in and no one was at the desk and I rang the bell and no one came to help me. The sign had the AM and PM but no times that the manager would be there.I left the keys on the desk behind the counter and left.....never to return.... This place was a big stepdown from a Motel 6...Thew place was very noisy both nites we were there...the bathrooms needed work and the tubs were not good....I wouldn't have taken a bath in them. Right by the freeway and very noisy.

Graduation day at CalPoly and everything was booked. I think they count on that. Large rooms, yes. Clean? No. Comfortable? Definitely not. (I have never seen a thinner pillow) Everything was falling apart. If we were not totally exhausted and knew everything else was booked, we would have left. Don't pull into the hard to find driveway, just go somewhere else. Maybe sleep in the park...

It says in there front page "Stay with us at Homestead Motel in beautiful San Luis Obispo Ca. Clean, comfortable accomodations" that advertisement is a lie..false advertisement. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT EDVERTISEMENT. We were surprised. When we opened our room, it was scary to go in, everything is dirty, they never vacuum the carpet, the are holes on the carpets. they never did dusting because spider webs everywhere. Holes on the walls. Pillows and sheets are dirty. Furnitures are rotten and broken. Doors are broken and ripped apart. We had to use a little towel for a holder. Air conditioning/heater is not working, it was so cold, it's like we were inside a freezer. There's a rusty dirty microwave in the room including a rusty dirty refrigerator. We didn't use the motel blanket, we used our own blanket that we brought from home. There's a tag or graffiti inside a drawer. There's blood mark on the wall. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE (HOMESTEAD MOTEL IN SAN LUIS OBISPO). It was a nightmare. Why we stayed in this place because the teacher from our kid's school reserved that place. We should have known and we could have done our own reservation somewhere else. I feel sorry for the other students that stayed in that place and of course for us too. I don't know who checks the conditions of the motels and hotels, they should close HOMESTEAD MOTEL because they are cheating visitors, guests of that town. For short...WHATEVER YOU DO...DO NOT STAY IN HOMESTEAD MOTEL IN SAN LUIS OBISPO. Don't tell us that we didn't alarm you. DO NOT STAY HERE....DO NOT STAY HERE....DO NOT STAY HERE....DO NOT STAY HERE....DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR GOODNIGHT SLEEP............so all the photos you see for their advertisement for their hotel looks descent but if you're already there, you will regret it. [...]

The motel was a mess, lighting was difficult to use, shower disgusting, and renovations or repairs look half completed. Will not stay here ever again!

This place was not cleaned well. Dust in corners and on tables, Cloth chairs dirty and a toy left by a previous occupant. The bed was the worst. Old spiring mattress that sagged. The bed must have been over 15+ years old. We visited our child at Cal Poly and all we did at Motel was "try to sleep". Mattress was so uncomfortable. Everything else we could deal with. We knew this place would not have any "extras" but we did expect a decent mattress. If all you want to do is save money, this is your place. If you want anything else, keep looking. A positive comment: It had hot water.

The Homestead motel had an issue with the air conditioning so we were moved to the Roadway Inn across the street since it was the same ownership. Very nice rooms. I stayed at the Homestead on a previous trip. It is a great place. Staff is hard to understand, but are friendly and attentive. It's like going back in time at the Homestead! Love it!
