Vagabond Inn San Jose

Quiet i was able to rest. Wish I had a lower level room I have a bad back and the stairs and carrying luggage was not good. Next time I will make a note at the time of reservations.

I am not an experienced traveler, so that should be taken into consideration. My biggest problem was the rather large string of black hair on one of the pillows on the queen size bed....Being by myself, it was only a matter of sleeping with the other pillow but....The window box heater and air, (used the heater) was rather noisy, and had a loud vibration. But, the people, or rather person that I talked to on check in was nice, and helpful....

Having spent several nights at other hotels in the area, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the accommodation at the Vagabond Inn. The rooms were very clean and the furniture, while worn, was perfectly serviceable. In addition it was full of those small extra amenities that make a hotel just a little bit better at the end of the day. The staff I spoke too was pleasant and helpful and made an effort to go the extra mile me. The location, while close to the airport, is right on a busy junction of streets making travel from the hotel to other parts of San Jose slower than I would have liked. In addition the wifi internet signal was spotty though I was given a room at the farthest end of the hotel. In summary, the Inn is best suited to a traveler or business person. It provided me a clean, quiet, and moderately priced room for me to sleep in at a better price than I expected.

Must have been a busy week because this was one of the few places with availability left on short notice for under $100. Actually paid less for a much nicer hotel one week earlier. Had to pay an additional $10 to change my room to non-smoking, despite originally requesting that upon purchase. Come to find out it would have cost me almost $30 less to walk up and book it! Glass half full- got some sleep and was able to take a hot shower.

Beds were uncomfortable, sink pipes leaked, bathtub faucet dripped,sunlight through bathroom window was painfully bright, drapes had burns, etc. etc. Was not a good stay. The staff was very nice, but this property needs a serious overhaul!

This is a very old and run down motel. Things in the room were broken (light fixture) or had burns (drapes). The sink pipes leaked and the bath tub faucet dripped. There was a refrigerator in the room, but not enough electrical outlets, so they strung a too-short outlet strip between the fridge and the wall outlet, and after everything was plugged into it, the strip was hanging in mid-air. The beds were hard. The morning sun blazed through the bathroom window so brightly it caused us pain to take a shower--those windows should have some kind of covering available. Nothing to recommend here other than the friendly staff at the front desk.

I have stayed 3 times at the Vagabond Inn, SJ, Ca. Average room with need of update for linnen, plumbing fixtures, carpet. Needs good wall cleaning or repainting inside rooms. Located 1/2 block from the light rail system.

The Vagabond Inn San Jose has spacious rooms with table and chairs. Coffee was a plus. The first room had a moldy smell from being closed. They very quickly gave us a different room that was acceptable. Clerk was very helpful with information about the area and transportation. It was a good value for the rate. Would stay there again.
