Beautiful and convenient

We were in San Jose for a trade show at the convention center and were thrilled when we checked in to the Sainte Claire. It's location is within walking distance to dining, entertainment and across the street from the cc. The amenities are amazing and the hotel is beautiful. We highly recommend. LB

Your staff is AWESOME - gave great recommendations and very personable. My room was charming but shower head was not adjustable and spray was too hard. The restaurant was overpriced for pasta.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

If you have time, a must see is the Winchester House - You can take a cab but the bus is much less expensive & the bus stop is located right outside the hotel. It drops you close enough that you can take a short walk from the Westfield Mall. It was extremely fascinating, especially if you like the bizarre!!

Perfect Location Downtown!

Excellent valet service at the curb, great location across from Tech Museum/ Montgomery Theatre/ near San Pedro Square dining, and wonderful staff. We stayed two nights to attend the San Jose Gay Pride Festival which was only two blocks away.

great hotel - exceptional service!!

service was exceptional. i asked for "hairspray" and they were going to send it up from the gift shoppe but they didnt have it so the concierge sent the bellboy across the street to pick up some and send it up. most impressive was that the bell boy seemed more than gracious to accept our measly $5 tip

A pleasant surprise :-)

The Sainte Claire was a pleasant surprise when we arrived. Purchased as a part of a package deal, we thought we would be staying at a generic chain but to our delight the charm and excellent service of the hotel made us remark about it to our other friends who were also visiting but staying at different hotels. The early 20th decor and ambiance is a nice departure from the Silicon Valley experience one usually partakes when visiting the area. The wood work from the elevator to the bathroom was refreshing and made one appreciate the attention to detail architects and designers put into hotels long ago. I'm glad it's a Larkspur. I would definietly stay here again.

Across the street and down a block towards the park / the square is a bakery and cafe call Bijon which is an excellent place to enjoy breakfast or a coffee away from the hotel.

The light rail system is very convenient, and could be used in place of a rental car, if you are not going out of town.

Rooms are too small

Basically the rooms are too small. The hotel was built in 1926 and the rooms reflect that. The room is full if you have 2 people and 2 suit cases. There is no room to walk around freely. The bathroom is small too. There is only one place for a dob kit and if the room is shared by 2 people, the bathroom won't work. Last but not least, they don't provide shampoo, only "body gel".
