Great Value
The hotel is in the final stages of a modernization project. My room must have been redone recently, very nice. Clean, comfortable, close to downtown, great hotel especially at this price. I'd stay there again when back in the area.

Not bad- but i still smelled smoke and tar
The room smelled like old smoke even though it was supposed to be a smoke free room. it was supposed to have a hot tub in the room. it was bathtub with holes for water jets. they did not work. all and all you get what you pay for. not impressed. Oh.... there was 1 positive note. the free wireless internet was the fastest I have ever experienced in a hotel.

A great value for a one night stay...
This was the perfect stay for my business trip. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was PERFECT for my needs and very convenient. I would definitely stay here again for a one night business need.

Worked Great For Me
I have stayed here 3 times. I do a trade show at the convention center and this is awesome cheap hotel that's less than 1 mile away. If you're looking for a cheap, clean, conveniently located room WITH BREAKFAST and free wi-fi, this works. It's not the ritz but if you don't need anything fancy this is great.

Wrong Hotel, Bad Hotel
The hotel name was Hotel Elan, not Howard Johnson.It should have been called Motel Elan, because that is exactly what it was. While the motel was clean, it was old and not located were I anticipated it to be. It was not in the hotel district of First St. that I was familiar with There were people hanging around the front and dogs were allowed to stay in the motel rooms. There looked like people were living in the motel for extended stays or permanent housing. [...]
