Affordable downtown San Jose hotel offers easy access to everything

Located in the heart of downtown San Jose, the Arena Hotel offers walkable access to the HP Pavilion, downtown offices and the San Jose Caltrain station. Guests appreciate the variety of nearby dining and transportation options whether they are there for a San Jose Sharks game or a business trip. Complimentary breakfast (daily) and evening appetizers (Monday-Thursday) help guests fuel up for a long day of work or night of recreation, and Jacuzzi tubs in each room ease sore muscles afterward.

Highlights:
  • Free wireless Internet access in rooms and common areas
  • Complimentary continental breakfast and evening appetizer hour
  • Walking distance to HP Pavilion, downtown San Jose and Caltrain
Rooms:

The recently renovated rooms have traditional decor, including dark-wood furnishings and printed bedspreads in dark, muted colors. Guestrooms and suites are highlighted by amenities such as 27-inch color TVs, voicemail-enabled telephones, microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers and even kitchenettes in some rooms. Two-person Jacuzzi bathtubs and free wireless Internet access are nice bonuses.

Features:

Corporate travelers appreciate the on-site business center, which is open daily and includes a computer workstation with Internet access and a printer. (A fax machine and photocopier are available at the front desk.) Guests who don't like checking bags can take advantage of the same-day dry-cleaning service and an on-site laundry room (fees apply). Perhaps most appreciated, though, is the complimentary breakfast available weekdays and weekends. In the evenings, light eaters can make a meal of the snacks provided in the lobby.

Adequate, great for HP pavilion events

Clean, older but good enough for us for to enjoy our HP Pavilion event. There was no vcr in the room but did not matter as the tv was not why we there. Quiet once the airport shuts down after 11 pm. May be more raucous if the sharks are playing. Soon to have a whole foods next door. Plenty of parking and an easy walk to the pavilion. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast not gourmet but filling. We would come back!

Other occupents were very very noisey, we were unable to rest. The building is beautiful and fairly clean. The ladies preparing the food were friendly and did a great job dining area.

Arena Hotel

They did not have the amenities that it stated such as pay per view movies, game console,or CD player. There was a shark game and so some people were very loud and I had to call the front desk 2 times and asked for another room before something was finally done about it. On the plus side the room was clean and the Breakfast was good.

Nice place for an overnight stay.

Check in was fast and easy. The tv in the room was older than me and no pay per view options. The room was larger than most other places I have stayed and clean. Overall if you want a nice place to stay after concert or sharks game, this place is a great value.

Great location, good price.

My boyfriend and I were watching Jay Chou's concert last friday, so we chose to stay in the hotel which is just one block from the HP Pavilion. Pros: It takes you only five minutes walking to the pavilion. $90 for one night is good. They provide free parking, but the spot is limited. They also provide breakfast from 7:30am-10:30am, but when we go downstairs at 10:20, there is no food anymore, so please make sure you get up earlier. Staffs are so friendly. Cons: The room is too old, and the quality of the toliet tissue is bad. All in all, it's a nice place to stay in short period.

One night stay 01/01/11 -01/02/11

Front desk staff was friendly, and check me in pretty easily. Location was centralized and very close to the airport. The hotel is a little dated and doesn't have that modern feel to it like other hotels. Price was decent. Very few people coming in and out of the place on the night I stayed. I think next time I would pay an extra 25 more to stay at a 4 star hotel that is nearby this place.

If you don't mind dated furniture and bedding, this place really isn't too bad for its location and price. This is a good spot for a budget traveler who just needs a place to sleep.

Great deal!

We went to several events at San Jose's downtown hotels and we were 5 minutes away by car. We were surprised the rooms were nice size and had a full size refrigerator and microwave, It was clean and quiet on New Years eve. We did not get to try the free breakfast because we were not told that it ended at 10a. But I would definitely recommend it, particiularly if you are going to the HP Pavillion its is very close.

arena hotel

The rooms are very big; didn't use the jacuzzi, they didn't have a remote for the tv and never did find one that worked. The room was a little dirty as well. The breakfast buffet was good, almost forgot.
