Affordable downtown San Jose hotel offers easy access to everything

Located in the heart of downtown San Jose, the Arena Hotel offers walkable access to the HP Pavilion, downtown offices and the San Jose Caltrain station. Guests appreciate the variety of nearby dining and transportation options whether they are there for a San Jose Sharks game or a business trip. Complimentary breakfast (daily) and evening appetizers (Monday-Thursday) help guests fuel up for a long day of work or night of recreation, and Jacuzzi tubs in each room ease sore muscles afterward.

Highlights:
  • Free wireless Internet access in rooms and common areas
  • Complimentary continental breakfast and evening appetizer hour
  • Walking distance to HP Pavilion, downtown San Jose and Caltrain
Rooms:

The recently renovated rooms have traditional decor, including dark-wood furnishings and printed bedspreads in dark, muted colors. Guestrooms and suites are highlighted by amenities such as 27-inch color TVs, voicemail-enabled telephones, microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers and even kitchenettes in some rooms. Two-person Jacuzzi bathtubs and free wireless Internet access are nice bonuses.

Features:

Corporate travelers appreciate the on-site business center, which is open daily and includes a computer workstation with Internet access and a printer. (A fax machine and photocopier are available at the front desk.) Guests who don't like checking bags can take advantage of the same-day dry-cleaning service and an on-site laundry room (fees apply). Perhaps most appreciated, though, is the complimentary breakfast available weekdays and weekends. In the evenings, light eaters can make a meal of the snacks provided in the lobby.

great deal

This hotel was very good, clean, and the service was great. Breakfast was good, like a restaurant. The location was excellent, close to everything. Close to the commuter train, can walk to the train. Room was big.

Second visit to the hotel, still as grea

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. And it has been a perfect option for the price range. The location is great, staff is good, and its very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is provided and there are multiple food / cafe options within a couple of blocks.

nice place

We stayed at the place while at a concert at the HP Pavilion. It is at a very good location, since we were able to walk to the pavilion (only about a block and a half away). The hotel was pretty nice. Okay place to stay at. Everything was okay, but a female receptionist that was there when we checked in, was really rude. Not the type of person to have working at a place where customer service should be a priority. The other guy receptionist was pretty friendly. The best part was that my boyfriend proposed while getting ready for the concert =)

good location to HP Pavillion

Went to concert at HP Pavillion. Short walk. No place to eat near hotel. Need a car. The hotel did have a breakfast area. The pavillion served dinner before the concert (expensive) food ok. Your checked in for the show when you go in to eat.

WONDERFUL & enchanting hotel

Two adults in town for a two day business trip (fitness related). Needed a place close to the train station and lucked out with the Arena which had jacuzzi in the room. Grounds are very well kept, rooms tucked away from traffic, clean, charming historical feel, large room and very close to the gay neighborhood (unexpected benefit). WiFi was very weak so internet connection was poor (not a big deal). Price was great and coffee houses were close by (the hotel coffee was not appealing).

Nice and quiet, great location

we stayed at Arena hotel for a couple of days while our house was taken over by pest-control folks. We had a month old infant with us and were planning to stay indoor most of the time. The room was very clean and nice. It was also quiet enough for our baby to sleep through the two days. The staff was also very courteous and helpful. We wrongly got booked for a room with a king bed instead of two queens. But we were able to resolve it easily over phone. The only thing below expectation was the breakfast. It was cold and underwhelming compared to equivalent three star hotel. But it was still passable. We would definitely consider this hotel again in future.

Very Happy

The hotel was close to the Arena. It is very cute on the outside. We went for a walk to find something to eat. There were plenty of places to eat. The room jacuzzi was big and powerful. The room was spacious. I would certainly go back again. Free breakfast in the morning was good too.
