Anniversary Night
We got this hotel room specifically for the jacuzzi tub. That was fine. The location was great. Room was clean. Couch was worn and uncomfortable. There were signs of an aging building everywhere. This is a very nice building and would be a incredible Hotel if the money was spent on the right maintenance. We were satisfied overall and would stay again.

just ok
Needs to be up dated. The floor in bathroom and around tub was cracked. Tiles were broken. Jacuzzi had missing fixtures. The kitchenette needed to be updated. Old wood. Colors in the whole room were old.

Disappointing Dark and Dirty
At first when I pulled into the parking lot I was quite pleased by the outside look of the place. Even when I entered the lobby I was not terribly turned off. The clerk behind the counter was pleasant. It went all down hill from there when she told me there was no exercise facility. As I went to my room I noticed that the hallway carpets were dirty (stained). There were fold up beds stationed in the hallway and it looked like a college dorm room. The room itself had fake wood floors and was cold and dank. I turned up the portable heater and it made loud noises keeping me up all nite. I finally turned it off so I could sleep.

Free Breakfast - Big Joke
they have limited variety of food for breakfast. we were there for 5 days and they served the same thing over and over. also, the door for the bathroom is scary, it felt like it will fall on us when we open/close it.

Nice location fair price
We decided to book a night at the Arena hotel mainly for its location. After arriving we were pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room with Jacuzzi and king bed. The continental breakfast was also a plus, bigger than usual room with a variety of choice and friendly staff. We will stay at the Arena hotel next time we are in San Jose

Decent value; no frills
The staff is very friendly, and the price is fine, but this place is tired. Our room, while clean enough, has not had any sort of update since the 70s. The road noise and bright light outside our window didn't make for a cozy experience either. If you need a clean and inexpensive room near the SJ airport or train station - as we did - the Arena Hotel is just acceptable. If you're looking for more comfort and/or amenities, you may want to look elsewhere.

paid less, got more...
We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel the night before, which is considered one of the nicest hotels in San Jose. I was staying there for work and moved over to the Arena Hotel. At the Fairmont, We paid loads of money for a nice view, but nothing special was included. When we arrived at The Arena Hotel, We didn't have to pay an additional fee for parking and we were told our visit included a free breakfast (average stuff including eggs and potatoes, etc) and it was in a cute neighborhood with coffee shops and a nice sushi place nearby that was open late on a Sunday. Overall we were happy to pay less for a better stay and the bed was very comfy. The jacuzzi tub wasn't a bad addition either after a long day. And it was a little walk to downtown, and an inexpensive cab ride back. not bad.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
its a short walk to downtown, and the public transit runs pretty late, even on sunday. Cab ride was fairly inexpensive to come home later in evening. Also, not much open downtown for dinner on sundays, but a few places close to hotel including a shushi/japanese food place and chipotle are practically outside your door.

The hotel was nice. Baskin and Robbins Ice Cream was down a few blocks. Making this a plus. CVS Pharmacy right next door to the hotel. Easy access to many places. The only problem we had was the maid service obviously does not know how to count. Two people get 2 of towels and wash cloths. We had to call down and/ or go down to get a second wash cloth every night. We had a jacuzzi in our room. Sorry to say we were too tired to get to enjoy it. We spent our time visiting our Grand Daughters at their home. The location was only 5 minutes from them. Free parking in parking lot. No pool nor exercise room.
