Where History Meets the Moment The Warwick San Francisco is a captivating reflection of the city in which it resides, striking a perfect balance between authentic history and modern hospitality. Ideally located just steps from bustling Union Square and its world-class shopping, theaters and landmark attractions, the Warwick is a residential style hideaway at the intersection of action and allure. Guests need to venture no further than the lobby for an authentic taste of San Francisco. Aveline, is the Warwick's innovative dining concept featuring soulful new Californian cooking. Just across the elegant lobby, The European, is a stylish and intimate bar serving European influenced cocktails with a local twist. Notably, the Warwick shares the same architect as San Francisco's Coit Tower and City Hall, Arthur Brown Jr. A historic hotel for the modern traveler, the Beaux-Arts style hotel was established in 1913 as The Maryland Hotel and was affectionately called, The House of Sunshine and Hospitality. Throughout the hotels design and service, stories of past and present are told. In its simplicity and grace, The Warwick San Francisco does not dictate the experience of its guests; rather it serves as an elegant backdrop for their own distinct story to unfold. Early Departure Policy: Rates quoted are based on check in date and length of stay shown. Guests checking out prior to their departure date confirmed will incur an early departure fee equal to the rate confirmed for one night.

Dining

Aveline
The Warwick San Francisco boasts one of the citys most exciting and innovative restaurant concepts, Aveline by Chef Casey Thompson. The restaurant showcases her soulful, signature bent on new Californian cooking paired with the perfect wine, beer, or cocktail. The intimate setting displays a light, feminine, and approachable design aesthetic that provides a perfect backdrop of cool tones to showcase Caseys vivid dishes and thoughtful composition. The restaurant also features a special chefs table with a birds eye view of the restaurants open kitchen. Signature cocktails created by master bartender, Adam Wilson, are available at Aveline. Open seven days a week for dinner service from 5:30pm-11:00pm and for weekend brunch from 11:00am-2:00pm.
The European
Throughout history, and especially during Prohibition, traditional American cocktail recipes have been taken overseas and imported back with a decidedly European influence. The name reflects this sensibility and style, expertly mixing old with new, as well as a drink menu featuring mostly European spirits including aperitif, champagne, and lower-proof cocktails with a regional twist. The European also features a Now & Then pairing of a contemporary cocktail served alongside a taste of the drink in its vintage form. The dark and rich interior with cozy seating areas entices patrons to connect and mingle over master barmans Adam Wilsons creative cocktails and a fun bar-exclusive menu from Chef Casey Thompson. Open seven days a week from M-Th 5:00pm-12:00am and F-S from 5:00pm-1:00am and for weekend brunch from 11:00am-2:00pm.

below average

Old building but overall clean. The room was below average. My window was on a busy street with a lot of noise which made it difficult to sleep at night.

Excellent location

This hotel is very convenient to Union Square and walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Very clean and nice decorations, older building recently remodeled, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Valet parking per day is $40, but parking is a premium in SF. Overall, excellent service and amenities, will stay again in the future!

Warwick Dec 2010

Easy location two blocks from Union Square and a short walk to/from BART and the cable cars. Nice, smaller boutique hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, free coffee, cookies. The cafe adjacent to the hotel is very nice as well, very good breakfast and reasonable pricing. Not sure why anyone would double or triple for another hotel.

You wouldn't know it was there....

This hotel was a nice little nook of refuge in downtown San Francisco. Just on the edge of the nice parts of downtown, it was almost next door to a great deli and a short walk from downtown shopping, dining, and the Powell-Mason cable car line. The staff was quite helpful and friendly and the room, though small, was comfortable and sufficient to needs. Did not like having to pay for wifi/internet, but that appears to be common for the big downtown hotels. Essentially, I'd definitely consider staying there again. It was a hotel that was worth the time and money spent for the experience.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

David's Deli is 2 doors down and serves HUGE portions of good food. Also, the hotel is within a 2 blocks of about 3 or 4 Starbucks, so you should be good on coffee the entire time you're there.

Convenience and value

The Warwick Regis Hotel San Francisco reminded me of an older, in-town European hotel -- tighter spaces and darker decor than the new American hotels. However, the public areas do have touches of elegance (piano in a small but plush lobby, uniformed doorman) and the room, while obviously carved out of a formerly larger space, was quite comfortable, clean, and well serviced. The shower was actually larger than anything you'll find in Europe, or in most American city hotels for that matter. For a closet there was a freestanding, creaky wooden armoire -- a little tight, but perfectly functional and kind of funky. And then there's the neighborhood! You are a short stroll from Union Square and surrounded by world class hotels that charge many times more. Unless you are rich or on a corporate card, the Warwick is an unbeatable value and a smart alternative to the St. Francis, etc.

Great Value

The Warwick Regis in San Francisco was a great value for us. Our business conference was just a few blocks away and near all our other meetings around Union Square. I wish it had a small fitness room, but overall for the stay it was excellent. The handy towne cars for hire were excellent too.
