Great location

Location is great. Close proximity to all of downtown. The breakfast is good, staff friendly, and the room was very clean. The hotel is old and could use some updating, but the price is right and I would gladly stay here again (unless I had my kids with--the room would be too small...). Of note, it's on the edge of the tenderloin--the streets are safe between here and union square, but going the opposite direction things get very sketchy very fast.

Clean n cute

For the price it has a great location. Literally a block. From Union Square shopping and dining. Room was small but cute, clean and decorated well. A bit noisy but then again it is a big city. We left satisfied and would definitely stay again.

Good for price

It was small over all, even the elevator was small only fits 3 people.I stayed here for my after party place after the club. I did like how it was close to everything and that they had vallet parking for $25. The check in is Right at the door so that was kind of a hassle because its always alot of people gathered right in the door when you are entering or exiting. however i WOULD recommend.

Good value, great location

We were in SF for a long weekend, to do some sightseeing, and this was an excellent base for that. Good central location with access to transport (eg tram to Fisherman's wharf) and restaurants within blocks. The room was basic (including an almost antique little TV) but perfectly functional and clean, and the wireless was good in the room - good enough for hulu. Cold room as usual in SF, so take your thick pyjamas. If you don't expect anything too fancy, you'll be very satisfied.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Use parkforless.org round the corner in Jones St, instead of the hotel valet service. Cheaper than most places and good service.

Perfect location, but a bit small

Touchstone hotel was in the perfect spot for shopping and nightlife scene, but I wouldn't choose it for any kind of romantic getaway. The bed was uncomfortable and it's a really noisy part of the city. I gave it 2 stars.

Great time at the Touchstone!

Wow! So, I'd never been to SF before and heard a lot of bad things about some "sketchy" neighborhoods. And while I did see some signs of homelessness, my girlfriend and I felt safe the entire time here. The Touchstone is in an area with many upscale hotels within a block radius and offers unbeatable prices! The rooms are very clean, European styled and just cute! [...] ( I hope thats right) was a wonderful help with ideas for exploring the city, thank so much!

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The House of Sheilds is a local after work bar with great atmosphere (balcony overlooking the bar)! We went for Morissey's Birhtday Party complete with flowers, baloons, videos and DJ spinning great Smith tracks...all for $4 to geth in and $2 PBR's!

Thought it would be more.

Upon arrival there was no lobby to speak of just the check in desk with no staff there, so we had to wait a while for check-in. The room was small for 2 people but it was clean. I imagined that the full breakfast was a result of the hotel having a restaurant. However it was in a small lunchonette type place next store. It was ok; we ate at the counter. I did get a kick when the waitress told one customer that what he was trying to order had to be specially ordered in advance and that, He didn't need it. Order something else. We were returning to San Franciso after a few days in Marin County. I found another hotel for those 2 nights.
