Sophisticated urban oasis with sweeping views in SoMa's Museum Row

Formerly known as the Argent, the Westin San Francisco Market Street has been rebranded over the course of the last decade. The result: a sophisticated, urban oasis in the middle of what locals call Museum row, a stretch that includes the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts and the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Both the lobby and guest rooms are sleek and modern; art in public areas is from Roy Lichtenstein and other iconic artists. Ducca, the on-site restaurant, serves contemporary Northern Italian food and has a lively bar scene on weekends.

Highlights
  • Impressive array of public art by artists such as David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein
  • Within walking distance of Moscone Convention Center
  • Cocktails and Italian cuisine at Ducca, the on-site restaurant
  • Complimentary guided walking tours
Rooms

Features

PERFECT LOCATION AND COMFORTABLE FOR VACATION AND BUSINESS

THE PARKING SHOULD COST LESS TO THE GUEST. THE VALET PARKING STAFF, WERE EXCEPTIONAL AND EFFICIENT. THE WIDE BETWEEN BED AND WALL IS VERY SHORT, WHILE THE DISTANCE IN BEDS ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH. MY FAMILY AND I WERE VERY SATISFIED, ENJOYED AND HAPPIED TO STAY IN THE ARGENT HOTEL, ALL THE PEOPLE SHOWED A GREAT AND PROFESSIONAL ATITUDE,OF COURSE WE'LL GO BACK EVERY TIME WE GO THERE. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT: THE GALLERIES,THE MUSSEUMS, THE STORES, THE EASYLY IN AND OUT IN OUR CAR.

Good place to stay

This hotel is a good place to stay. It was in a great location for everything that we wanted to do. It is very close to BART stations and other public transporatation options. There is plenty of shopping and dining within very close proximity. We walked to everything that we wanted to do including cable cars and AT&T Park for Giants ganes. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and we experienced no customer service problems. If you are weighing the options of perhaps staying at a slightly cheaper hotel and this one, I would recommend The Westin. It will be worth it for the lack of headaches.

FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE

The only issue we had was with the bartender on sunday Morning (08/31/08). While attempting to purchase coffee at the bar area of the dining room, we asked the bartender if the coffee was free, his respond to us was, read the sign, it $4.00. We where taken aback to this very unfriendly and curt respond. Fortunately, a female staff noticed us and help us with out coffee. It was not the cost of the coffee but how we where responded to.

Great Location

The Westin Market Street is the perfect location to explore San Fran if you're new to the area. It's within walking distance to Union Square, the Ferry building, and many, many Museums scattered around Civic Center and SoMa. The rooms are comfortable, the views from my room (15th floor) were pleasant and the staff is always courteous. The best part I found was that it is just a block from BART making it an easy shot into SFO. No traffic to deal with! The one negative comment I have: The rooms are a little sound-challenged. I never heard occupants on either side of me but when someone was in the hallway you would defineitely hear it.

Great location!

The Westin Market Street was clean, modern, and had fabulous views. The room was perfect, the bed dreamy: I slept like a baby! The staff was friendly, and the bar made an excellent martini. Best of all, walking distance to Union square shopping. I took BART from SFO and the walk was only 1 block...the location can't be beat if you want to be in the Union Square area.

Excellent location with spacious rooms

This hotel was very luxurious and tucked away right in a corner on Market Street, no more than 2 mins away from Union Square. The room was very spacious with huge and extremely comfortable beds. My dog was very well accepted, and we had an excellent time. Street parking was ample and that allowed us to save $50/day on valet parking. The only drawback was that there was no free wi-fi internet, and internet usage was $7 at the business office. A little strange since there are alot of business people who seem to reside here. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely stay here again.

A deluxe stay

The Westin downtown is a wonderful hotel. We had a great room with a view of Alcatraz. The beds were so comfortable. The gym was great and of course the location was so much fun for a couple on Friday night. Just a few blocks from Union Square.
