Sophisticated urban oasis with sweeping views in SoMa's Museum Row

Formerly known as the Argent, the Westin San Francisco Market Street has been rebranded over the course of the last decade. The result: a sophisticated, urban oasis in the middle of what locals call Museum row, a stretch that includes the Yerba Buena Center for the Performing Arts and the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Both the lobby and guest rooms are sleek and modern; art in public areas is from Roy Lichtenstein and other iconic artists. Ducca, the on-site restaurant, serves contemporary Northern Italian food and has a lively bar scene on weekends.

Highlights
  • Impressive array of public art by artists such as David Hockney and Roy Lichtenstein
  • Within walking distance of Moscone Convention Center
  • Cocktails and Italian cuisine at Ducca, the on-site restaurant
  • Complimentary guided walking tours

Pretty standard

The location was great. The hotel was unexceptional, rooms, furniture and carpet every so slightly worn, but good beds. I expected a more stylish hotel, given the price and location. "Floor to ceiling windows" weren't really floor to ceiling.

Westin SFO Market St

First room was very small and cramped. Desk offered an upgrade without our complaining. We were mover to 36th Floor in a Starwood Prefered Room (I'm Starwood Gold) and it was great.

very nice

pleasant unexpected upgrade to king size bed after being told we could only have a queen size since we "booked on orbitz." Even though we had corner room, it was very roomy, bed was nice, bathroom is slightly small (but counter top ample), large flat screen tv. The safety lock on door was loose, but was promptly fixed when reported. Nice staff. The two chairs in room appeared dirty/stained, seemed like they were made of suade--hard to clean?

OK stay

While the staff was very friendly and even upgraded us to a higher floor room, they assigned an other guest to this same room later that evening and GIVEN WORKING KEYS! Luckily we were in the room and had locked already locked it. Otherwise, they could have easily entered....The other guest had to go back to the reception and get a different room. However, when we wanted to chec out using their interactive TV feature, we found out that the room was booked under the other guest's name! Luckily, no extra charges were made in either rooms so our credit cards were not charged for anything. Very unprofessional!!! Other than that, rooms were a good size, nice location, good views, and very quiet. The cleanliness was great at first glance untill I noticed a couple of towels with brown spots and a small blood stain on the cover of one of the queen-size beds in our room. YUCK!!! Good thing we ha the other bed and were checking out in a few hours.... Don't think I'll come back.....

San Francisco

Great Hotel, Great Location but they Nickel and Dime you to death, To print out a flight confirmation I had to use their business center, it was 8 buck minimum and don't use the fridge it was pressure sensitive and if anything was moved for more than 120 secs you get billed, not good when you use it to store food and some water. They took all the charges off and the staff was great besides one Lady at the baggage desk, everyone else was great and very friendly.

Great value and location...can't be beat

I was in town for business so all I really needed was a place to sleep and shower but the room made me wish I was staying longer! Great city view, nice clean bathroom and comfy bed...a great deal and a great location! Staff was also friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.

Great view of rooftop and pole

Our first room looked out on a partial roof of the hotel and a really large decorative pole. We were told that we had the best room in "our category." However, the manager did give us the same room location four floors up and the view was great higher up.

Westin; even better than expected!

Westin is always a reliable hotel, and I got a great rate on this room [...]; such a good rate that I fully expected to be in a basement room and treated as a second class citizen or something! But the room was perfect - clean, roomy, great view of the city, comfortable, first class service - nothing short of perfect! They even have a convenient side street driveway for drop off and pick up. Loved it!
