problems to get the romms we reserved

[...]this was a very bad experienc, the worst with hotels on our trip across the southwest (and this even in the very most expensive location we´ve chosen!!!)the staff was friendly, whenever the ladies (even the manager) at the frontdesk did not fulfill our askings to get the rooms we reserved and paid!

Not so "new"

The hotel seemed dowdy despite the ballyhooed $35M "recent" renovation. The hallway carpets smelled of institutional cleaners/refreshners that signal cover-up. The windows in the room had ill-fitting shades that allowed lights showcasing the exterior of the building to illuminate the interior. The bathroom was dated.

Skip this hotel..

This hotel is not what it used to be, it has gone through a cheap looking renovation and in the process lost its edge. It felt as ordinary as the clientele who stays there. If you are a discerning person like myself then move on, this is not the hotel for you.

I expected more from this hotel but was disappointed. No place for dinner except a noisy lounge area, and very ordinary.

Good get away weekend hotel

Locations great, room is a good size, but the front desk hospitality is lacking. Conveniently located between pier 39 and union square. If you walk in they don't have a formal lobby and you have to walk we're the cars are. Breakfast is not complimentary, but there are good places nearby (golden coffee is a great little family run hole in the wall). All in all was a good stay, just would have appreciated a more hospitable front of the house.

Weekend visit

Great looking hotel, super location, and some rooms have fantastic city views. There is cable car noise, but that's actually a great part of the experience and the noise stops around midnight. No room service, no free breakfast. Internet was free and pretty good. In room coffee maker was a nice addition. The heat didn't get very warm. The first room we were given was dark. Neither shower drained very well. Good looking decor, although a bit dated. Overall, the best price for a decent place downtown. Staff were excellent and there is a great bakery and coffee place across the street that you can charge to your room. I would stay again if on a budget, but would pay a bit more if I really wanted a nice place.

Sub-par service

Service and amenities were disappointing for a four-star hotel. Front desk people were not helpful when our luggage was temporarily misplaced. We were asked about a quiet room and given the courtyard, but there was no reason to give us the ground floor--there were plenty of rooms. Would have been nice to at least overlook the courtyard.
