for young budget travellers; good price

Staff is extremely nice and very helpful. Real asset. So is the price. Room was OK. Minimal breakfast. Big drawback is that the furniture in the room is too big, severely limiting movement in the room; also smell of construction materials. While well located to visit SF, the neighborhood is really poor and bad, and does not feel save even to an adult male. While taking a bus tour, the tour guide specially mentioned this neighborhood as one with prostitution, drugs, etc., right as we were within one block ot the hotel...

Bad Area, Cramped Room

This hotel is located in Tenderloin, which is a rather seedy area of San Francisco and I wish I had been more familiar with this when booking-- it was in a rather rough spot. The room was extremely tiny and uncomfortable, so I am glad I didn't have to spend much time here. There is a muni bus stop directly outside the hotel entrance which made transportation very easy. The hotel offered a free breakfast each morning which did make up for some of the other shortcomings. I will probably look elsewhere when booking during any future trips to San Francisco.

Fairly good place to crash

The staff was very helpful. However, the neighborhood is full of homeless people, especially at night.

Good place to crash

The staff was really helpful, but the hotel is noisy at certain times. The location is near downtown, in Little Saigon, but the neighborhood is full of homeless people and drug dealers.

Very nice staff, but...

Very nice staff, but room was scary. Carpet stained in several places and in several different colors. Cleanliness was an issue also on the windows/blinds. Located next to some wonderful restaurants, but also a loud bus stop.

Not a very amazing experience!!,

From the pictures online it seemed worth every penny that I was spending .. But on reaching there .. Found that the bldg is really old .. Not a 1990s one as claimed online .. The Internet connection on the top floor rooms is hardly accessible .. The bathrooms have ancient tubs .. Which need immediate replacement ... But the housekeeping staff does their job 100% and keeps all the old things neat and clean ... Live able but not worth paying what is asked for!!!!

Survives

Good position as location but not safety. Is a block full of homeless The room are small and not do clean. Is good for group of friends that want stay in San Francisco looking for something cheap. Good stay just for 2/3 nights. Not suggest to rich family or someone that usually go in high level hotels

family visit

The hotel was somewhat shabby. I'm OK with that, but what was disconcerting is the yelling of all of the people roaming the street at all hours of the night. This was a little intimidating in entering or leaving the hotel.

Stay at Regency

I stayed at the hotel while attending SFDC Dreamforce event. The area is horrible, never being to SF I was glad that my wife and child didn't join. You almost needed a police escort to leave at night. The amount of homeless and junkies were beyond belief. The staff was nice and accomodating and the room was clean. It was older, the heat turns on like once a night or so, and the faucet didn't work well, but ok overall. While I would recommend this hotel based on the extremely friendly staff, the area is horrible.
