Bad location and rooms small

The hotel is located in the Tenderloin district. You don't want to stay there if you're a lone woman. (Look it up on wikipedia#crime if you want). There's no place to park, so unless you want to pay for valet parking you have to walk a few blocks. The hotel itself seems to be a renovated historical building, the window opens out into an alley, and the bathroom was ... old. I ended up staying somewhere else and just soaked up the $120 or so I was down. This is a lesson to me to check my hotels before I book them.

Very nice staff, but...

Very nice staff, but room was scary. Carpet stained in several places and in several different colors. Cleanliness was an issue also on the windows/blinds. Located next to some wonderful restaurants, but also a loud bus stop.

for young budget travellers; good price

Staff is extremely nice and very helpful. Real asset. So is the price. Room was OK. Minimal breakfast. Big drawback is that the furniture in the room is too big, severely limiting movement in the room; also smell of construction materials. While well located to visit SF, the neighborhood is really poor and bad, and does not feel save even to an adult male. While taking a bus tour, the tour guide specially mentioned this neighborhood as one with prostitution, drugs, etc., right as we were within one block ot the hotel...

Bad Neighboorhood

The hotel is located in a very bad neighboorhood. The hotel itself was clean but there was very little hot water and the radiator made a terrible noise all night so that I couldn't sleep. I could also tell the mattress was very old.

Overnight Stay

Older Hotel going through renovations. A decent place to stay if all you need is a clean bathroom and a clean bed. The shower doesn't get too hot, so be aware. A simple, basic room converted from what looks like an old apartment. After getting over the shock when you first walk into the room, it is not all that bad if you are ok with simple and basic.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

Bring your walking shoes. Not too bad of a walk if you are in good physical shape, else take a taxi

If you want to save money, stay here

The staff was great. The hotel is fine; I wasn't impressed. There was no drinking water anywhere, so you have to buy it. Definitely an annoyance. Only one serious issue: location! Terrible location. Every time I went outside, I was concerned (I'm a 30 year old, average size male). When I'm in the hotel, I was fine. I would only stay again in this hotel if I really wanted to save money; otherwise, I would stay elsewhere. I marked that I would not recommend the hotel to a friend, but let me qualify: if you're staying with another person, I say it's fine; if you're alone, and unless you know marshal-arts, I really hesitate recommending it. Stay there if you want to save money. I saved $100.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

It pains me to say this because the people that work here are beyond pleasant and accommodating. That being said, I was mortified with my stay! First impression was it was filthy from the outside. Trash all along the street and NOT in a safe area. This was my first time to SF, so I didn't know any better. Outside the hotel, a man was 'cooking' his heroine on a spoon and about to inject himself. Inside, there aren't any glasses to drink, no way to turn down or control the temp in the room, and raw sewage backed up from the bath. Do yourself a favor and DON'T STAY HERE!
