Okay budget place
Hotel was decent and historic, aesthetically pleasing except for the stained carpet in the rooms and odd smells in the hallway. But bed and bathroom were clean, so it was passable. Was slightly noisy being on Van Ness Avenue, but being from NYC that didn't keep me awake. Staff were fair but didn't go out of their way. Still, a great bargain for the location. 3 buses right outside the hotel and a short walk to the California streetcar.

The OK hotel
The pleasant things are the location & economical price of the hotel, the not so nice things are the gloominess of the staff or the no nonsense greetings to visitors. The carpets had an antique smell. If they can alter the ambience it would help a lot.

Decent hotel, great location
Great location but decor can use some updating. Room was large and spacious, did the job. Nothing fancy at all about this place, but solid 3 star hotel

Opal San Francisco
Staff was very friendly and knowlegeable. Rooms were very clean and neat. Bath was spotless, but shower stream was almost non-existent. We'd stay again because it's convenient to everything in the city.

Good hotel in a bad location
The hotel accomodation was fine, but the neighborhood is definitely not nice and totally safe. The hotel parking is quite expensive. The rooms are not so large for 4 people. The breakfast room is defitely too small compared to the number of guests. The breakfast itself is Ok but nothing special. Clean room.

Nice hotel but parking is extra
Great spacious bedroom, however bathroom is quite small and there was no room at the sink for your toothbrush, makeup bag etc. *** Also, no where on Cheap Tickets.com does it say that parking is extra at $28.00 per night, imagine our surprise when we were faced with an add'l $100.00 charge for our stay. The hotel lowered our rate to $20.00 per night but it would have been nice to know ahead of time to budget in the money ***
