Good

It is easy check in, and the room is comfortable. There is a AMC next to the hotel, and a restaurant for food at night downstairs.

opal is a jewel

spent 5 nights at this charming, vintage hotel. We really loved the staff, decor, cleanliness, and location. Quick walk to San Francisco Playhouse and American Conservatory Theatre. Great value!

Solo trip

It's super convenience! The restaurant, bars, and bus stops are walking distance. It's really cheap for a expensive fun town. They have continental breakfast, the staffs are very helpful. The room are just simple but who will stay in their rooms, when there is a beautiful city to see! Unfortunately there are no refrigerators but its can be easily over look. There are no shuttle to the hotel but there is for the airport for $16.

Awesome Weekend Getaway

perfect location in center of San Francisco heart and right off a bus line, easy check in and the staff was very pleasant, complimentary breakfast was standard, room was clean and bed was comfy. Walls were pretty thin could hear conversation happening next door but they were pretty loud. Located in the Tenderloin neighborhood which I read was pretty predominant to the homeless community but the entire surrounding area I noticed of San Francisco had homeless individuals and I didn’t feel threatened. I would recommend staying here! and I would stay here again!

Absolutely Wonderful in All Dimensions!

This hotel was superb and reasonably priced! The location was delightfully central without being smack in the middle of massive tourist-land; Easy access to public transit (I bought a several-day transit pass, what a great deal!); The old, restored architecture means the rooms are quiet (no shoddy new construction here, never heard my neighbors); The row of restaurants and shops one block away on Polk was easy access to anything needed in a jiffy, including yoga!; Just stay away from the Tenderloin neighborhood directly to the northeast; The staff is super helpful and courteous; The contintental breakfast was a bit dull (mostly bread), but overall, this hotel rocks!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Buy a several day transit pass from across the street at the gift shop, Cathedral Hill hotel. $11 for single day, $18 for 3 days or $24 for 7 days. Well worth it to get around town as it also includes cable and street cars.
