Stayed there for the second time and loved it. Rooms are old but clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good. Location is convenient near public transportation. The only negative is costly and limited in space parking. Will stay
there again on our next trip.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Park at the cinema garage next to hotel to save up to $20 per day.
The Opal is conveniently situated closed to north Market street. I was traveling with my 17 years old daughter and had asked for two beds. However I only had one king bed. There was an old odor in the room that was not very attractive. But the
area is so noisy that it is impossible to keep a window open. The amenities were okay, the breakfast was also very disappointing.
The staff is so nice ! Helped us choose bars, figure out the public transportation and booked me a shuttle back to the airport! The room was perfect, we were out all day and most of the night so we didn't spend too much time there. The bed could
have a been little more comfortable but overall the room was fabulous! The breakfast had nice variety and great hours of operation. We felt safe and well taken care of. I would go back any day!
Average hotel but in a good location for public transportation. Some staff were friendly and competent but others were bored and/or uninterested. Rooms and halls need updating but were very clean. Telephone switchboard was almost useless.
Very well maintained, modern and clean. The location is central enough -- though a ways from attractions like Fisherman's wharf.
The included breakfast was much better than most, though could have used some hot food.
The one guy at the front
desk was really grumpy and bordering on rude.
The hotel itself was nice, clean, the continental breakfast was nice and the people very friendly. The only drawback is that few blocks to the east of the hotel are a little bit dangerous so take the 38 bus or a cab at night. I had no issues
walking during the day but be careful.
OK for short stay. Bed linen seemed not that clean. Parking is expensive. I parked one block away in the theater which was $26 a night while the hotel charges $35 a night for parking. Not that good for walking towards main attractions.
