Laurel Inn Less Expensive but Not worth it
It started badly when we arrived with 4 pieces of luggage and no one moved to help us. Eventually someone did. The rooms are small and the bathrooms old. The beds were so soft and caved in in the middle that it made it difficult to sleep. While Pacific Heights is a nice place to live it is not close to anything so you will pay in taxi fares what you save in hotels. A small bright spot is the continental breakfast of high quality pastries and free coffee.

Great staff
Everyone at the Laurel was great. The front desk staff was fantastic. The Swank lounge was really fun - had great drinks. The hotel itself is an older building and they made a lot of cosmetic changes to try and make it "swanky" but it was slightly odorous (like moldly/stale) in the room. It was a perfect location for my weekend seminar in Laurel Heights. I'm rating this fairly high based on the staff and how hard they worked :-)

Always a Pleasant Stay
I just got back from a 9-day trip in San Francisco and this was my 4th or 5th time staying at the Laurel Inn. The pros: Staff is friendly and helpful; breakfast items and beverages are served in the lobby every morning and homemade cookies and coffee/tea in the afternoon; rooms are spacious and comfortable and bedding is of good quality; location is close enough to the different neighborhoods that one could walk, take a bus, or drive. Also it's an easy and fairly quick drive from the hotel to the Golden Gate Bridge for access to Marin County (about 10 mins or less without traffic). It's not close to downtown but I stay away from that area so that's never bothered me. Finally, there's ample garage parking included with your stay. The cons: Bathrooms are clean but in need of updating/remodeling (very odd, since the rest of the hotel appears rather modern and sleek), and traffic and noise from the street side of the hotel is somewhat loud. Other than that, it's always a pleasant stay here and I have no complaints. I'd recommend it for the budget- conscious traveller who requires comfort and (aside from the bathrooms), a touch of modern class.

One night stay
One night stay before visiting with local family. Clean room, nice linens. Front desk pleasant. Continental breakfast would have been nice addition especially at this price.

Enjoyed Emma's cafe on corner for delicious brunch offerings in nice, casual sorroundings (though service slow on a holiday weekday).

Charming Hotel in a Great city
The Laurel Inn is in a convenient location. The room was large enough and comfortable. The breakfast was an adequate continental or across the street is a great place to eat. San Francisco weather is a wonderful break in a hot summer. Picasso at the de Young and Stein Collect at SFMOMA made for an outstanding trip.

Clean and comfortable
Friendly helpful staff, very clean and comfortable inn. Rooms spacious and generous breakfast provided, as well as fresh oven hot cookies at around 3! Overall great value for money. It is far from downtown, the wharf etc but suited us as close to friends we were visiting.

Great Hotel/Problem Checking In
Great San Francisco hotel where I stay a lot, but there was no record of my pre-paid [...]reservation at the hotel when I checked in. Fortunately, I had the printed copy of my [...]confirmation with me and they gave me a room, but if no rooms had been available, it might have been very stressful.

I will stay again
This beautiful little boutique hotel is right in the heart of a neighborhood boasting delightful shops and restaurants. Inside you are welcomed by a staff that wants to insure your stay is as pleasant as can be. There is always fresh coffee, snacks and even lemonade in the heat of the day. I noticed it was extremely animal friendly with dog treats at the front desk. The room was beautiful in a calming simple design with all the amenities of a larger hotel. There is no question that I would stay again.

Ellas is right across the street and a great place to get a delicious breakfast. And not far away on Sacramento St your choices are among the best in San Francisco. We dined at the Magic Flute and enjoyed one of the most delightful dinners we have had in the city.
