Great stay for my business trip to SF

I was here for most of the week on business and found this hotel to be a good experience and value. The staff were friendly and courteous, and the room was always spotless. The complimentary internet was fast and easy to use with good coverage. The location is ok, but it can get a bit noisy due to the neighborhood.

Nice Older Hotel Recently Refurbished

A nice historical hotel which has been refurbished. Like all older buildings it has its quirks but the price is right and the Pineapple Group which recently acquired it is doing it's best to upgrade the facility.. pros: comfortable beds with luxurious duvets . Full bathtub. Good location for downtown. Pleasant ready to serve staff. Clean . Free coffee. Cons: Small rooms. Low water pressure. Lots of panhandlers (Not really the hotel's fault).

we loved it

Cute hotel. Our room was not huge, but very clean and stylish. Super comfy bed. Daily free pineapple water, coffee and pineapple cupcakes in the lobby were a great addition to our stay. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Some previous reviews pointed out, that it took too long to get their car from valet, so I would call at least 20 min before we had to leave, and our car was always upfront when we got down. They have FREE bikes to take around the city! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to take advantage of it, but its a nice feature ) Also, if you are not planning to take your car in and out of a parking lot, then next door parking is a little cheaper than their valet option.

Good for price

The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Only thing I did not like was the fee for parking but anywhere in San franciso is going to be expensive for parking. DefinAtley will return.

Hotel California

I would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were just the right amount of quirky -- interesting details but not too much kitsch. I loved the little cupcakes that they set out in the lobby every evening. The duel European (?) style comforters on the bed were a great idea. I didn't have to fight my boyfriend for the sheets. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I was in town on business. It was not difficult to catch a cab to the downtown area (only about $7/trip) or a 15 minute walk.

Nice place for a couple's weekend near Union Square

Pretty convenient at only 6 blocks from the Powell BART station. We did not have a car and walked most places. The room was "brightly" done in yellows and hardwood floors that gave it almost a beach feel. The bed was comfortable, the flat screen TV nice and the yellow umbrella welcomed. This is an example of a hotel over a 100 years old that has aged nicely and doesn't feel worn out or past its prime. As this is directly on Geary, you will hear the sounds of the city at night, so if you need absolute quiet, this is not your place. Ashley and Nancy at the front desk did a wonderful job of directing us where to go and making us feel welcomed.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Go to the Ferry Building Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. There is a lot of food to sample and everything is very fresh. We ended up buying several food items that we took with us on our tours.

Tiny room but great location

I felt like the room was really small, and the fan felt like it was going to fall off at a high setting. But to be honest, this hotel is great for what you pay. It's in a good location, the staff was friendly (although I did have to make requests twice before they were completed). The worst part is the old elevator - every time I used it I felt like it might be my last.
