Sir Francis Drake, a Kimpton Hotel

Hotel is in a great location. The staff is friendly, but sometimes the front desk is undermanned. I had an issue with a broken remote control for my TV and it took them a while to give me an new one, and when the did it didn't work. The next day I eventually was able to get a new remote that worked. Other than that no huge issues. Hotel is VERY pet friendly. The fitness center is nothing to write home about.

The rooms were incredibly small and the walls very thin, my only complaints. I was on the 8th floor and could hear street noise, as well as my neighbor snoring next door, also you could hear toilet flushing, etc. The first night was hard to rest. The room was spotless, the bed comfy, but if you have more then one person in the room, i cannot imagine! Great location, on cable car line and walking to all stores and a starbucks located right next door. Staff was friendly.

Very attentive staff - It came in handy because we needed to change rooms twice - A/C etc. Rooms are small and can use an update - but it matters only if you spend your time in your room - and then again who does when you are in San Francisco? The location makes up fro most of it.

A bit less than expected for a Kimpton property. Very small room, tiny bathroom, faded upholstery and carpet, some wallcovering peeling. Dead plants on grand staircase to the lobby. Just not what we expected for a grand old hotel under solid new management.

We liked the lobby the best. The pillows were awful and the room needs a decorator.

No mini fridge, small room, even with the two queen beds. They made me change rooms after one day since they were short rooms when I checked in. Total inconvenience!

Stayed for a weekend getaway. Excellent location with shopping and restaraunts well within walking distance. A bit noisy if you do not find the clang of the cable car bells desirable. The minus for me was that the heating/cooling vent was right over the bed, so when the AC kicked in, it got pretty cold.

The standard room is smaller than my closet, but it is an older hotel. Wish they had coffee in room, but there is no room. Had to either go to lobby or Starbucks. Staff was excellent and it was right in union square. Cable cars were loud though.

Our stay at the Sir Francis Drake was just average. Our stay didn't start out right as it seems they lost our luggage upon check in. It took nearly an hour for them to bring our luggage to our room after approximately 4 phone calls to multiple hotel staff. Not a good start considering we were ready to start exploring the city but had to wait. The room was small and the view was dreadful. But for the price, I guess it was ok overall. We weren't in our room much, so it was fine for getting ready and sleeping. But we weren't blown away. The location right on the cable car line was very convenient. And the Walgreens just across the street came in handy a few times. There is a Starbucks just next door which we also liked.

I stayed a the hotel back in the late 90s and I recall the property being very nice at the time. So I booked the hotel on memory and location. I was really surpised by the size of my queen room. I thought hotels in NYC were small:0
