old world charm with exquisite service
The Sir Francis Drake is elegant, old-fashioned, clean, and conveniently located just by Union Square. Close to shopping, cable cars, great restaurants, and more. Don't expect a modern hotel with huge rooms, because mine was quite small. However, it was adequate, and I'm sure I could have had something larger - for more money. Exceptionally helpful staff, starting at the front door. The restaurant was lovely and elegant. Limo service to the airport costs the same as a cab. My experience at the Drake is one I will not soon forget.

CLASSIC AND ECCENTRIC SAN FRANCISCO STYLE
SIR FRANCIS DRAKE IS THE PERFECT BLEND OF CLASSIC GRANDEUR AND HIP MODERN DAY STYLE. WISH THEY HAD MORE THAN EXCLUSIVELY LOCAL BEERS--ALTHOUGH THEY'RE FUN TO TRY, SOMETIMES IT'S NICE TO GET WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.

Although the staff and location of this hotel are highlights, the room doesn't have a coffee maker, tub is not present in the restroom, very cheap shower head, all these are very disappointing.

Great at UnionSquare
Just what you need when you visit San Francisco. Close to everything. Hotel is well done and staff is courteous. Room was updated and always clean. Nice bed and Tv settings. Everything is in it : restaurant, coffee shop, night club and in the middle of any restaurant and shop in town at Union Square. Two stops of the Bus Tour to visit any part of San Francisco with a 24 or 48 pass are around the corner. Moscone Convention Center is a few blocks by foot as it is Chinatown. Great experience, great hotel, nice time during my long weekend in San Francisco

About 1 mile away (you have to walk uphill for part of it) is Cafe Jacqueline. It's an amazing souffle place! A bit expensive but totally worth it.

Sentimental Visit
I have been staying at the Sir Francis Drake since my honeymoon in 1975. The hotel has a great location and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are a little small. The bathroom required closing the door to use the commode. Missed having a coffee pot in the room but there was a Starbucks in the hotel. Their new conservation program paid for my room service bill.

Great SF weekend getaway!!
Me and a few friends stayed here for the weekend and had a wonderful time!! I have been to SF many times previously but this hotel is perfectly located near restaurants, shopping and the trolley!!! This is a perfect place to experience San Francisco.

Great Location, Small beautiful Room
Overall experience was wonderful. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. However, it was very small and I could hear the street noise. I loved the environment and would stay at this location another time.
