Outstanding service!
We spent the night here after a wonderful day at the DeYoung Museum for the Van Gogh exhibition. [...] The staff were uniformly courteous and helpful, from the parking valet, to the doorman, to the fron desk clerks. The operators greet you warmly by name when you call from your room. Even the housekeeping staff were friendly, greeting you with a smile and a warm "how are you?" I asked for an extra pillow and a bucket of ice (there was no ice bucket in the room, and I learned later that there was only one ice machine, downstairs), and both were brought to my room very promptly, at no charge, by friendly staff who politely refused to be tipped. The ice bucket was a fancy silver one, too, large enough to cool a bottle of wine in. My only quibble was the mini-bar. It was a "smart bar", that automatically charged your bill if you did so much as move a bottle or can. I had picked up a can of soda and put it back unopened, only to find a notice in small print next to the TV on top of the mini bar that items will be charged even if they are just picked up or moved, and not consumed. They should have posted a more prominent warning on the door of the mini-bar. I think if I had made a stink about it, they might have credited me the charge, but I was so pleased with my overall experience there I didn't bring it up.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Hang Ah Tearoon is a short 2 block walk away from the hotel, and it serves outstanding Cantonsese food in a little hole-in-the-wall setting tucked away in a quiet alley in Chinatown. We went for Dim Sum, and being a Dim Sum afficionado who has eaten Dim Sum at dozens of restaurants, I xcan honestly say that Hang Ah serves the BEST DIM SUM I have ever had! The Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) were simply AMAZING: I have never had shrimp so flavorful, that absolutely no dipping sauce was necessary; the dough was as tender as it could possibly be without falling apart in the steamer. It is obvious that whoever does the cooking here puts their entire heart and soul into every dish.

San Fran-tastic
The hotel is in a great location at the top of Nob Hill across from the Tonga, the Tiki bar at the Fairmont. Easy to get everywhere, the cable car stops on the corner, or it's an quick walk to the wharf... They also have parking, valet and a little expensive, but rare! The concierge service in particular was excellent. The restaurant she helped us find was one of the best meals we've ever had.

Great value, terrific location
Great value and reasonable rates for a terrific location. I put my aunt and in-laws in this hotel which was right next to the Fairmont hotel, where we attended a wedding together - very affordable yet really well appointed. If you are looking for a mid-priced SF city hotel, not far from Union Square, easy access to many attractions and restaurants, you don't want to miss this.

Short walk from hotel
If you are attending a wedding or other special event at the Fairmont, this is a cheaper alternative but still a great hotel.

Beatiful views, excellent service
I had booked a romance package that included a suite with fireplace in the patio and and rose petals/wine. I love the place, I often go for the famous jazz Thursday nights, but I was disappointed when I entered the room and saw no roses or wine. I was however happy to hear a week later that RC would like to make it up to me and bring me back for a complementary stay.

Never better!
We absolutely loved out location and could not have been happier with our choice to stay at the Stanford. This was our first trip to San Francisco and it could have not been so great without the help of the staff and concierge. During the day, they had every detail to what trains, buses or form of transportation to take to the different locations and activities within the city. The evening concierge was just as helpful! The hotel was very sleek and modern. Our room was the prefect size and the beds were amazingly comfortable. the location of the hotel itself was great: a couple blocks from Union Square and a about a 20 minute walk from teh Ferry Building. Although the triolleys were not working, transportation was never an issue.

"Great hotel"
Great hotel!! The room was well decorated and with a big restroom compared to other hotels I've been to. The valet parking was well managed and the staff always had a smile on their face. I've found the perfect hotel for future stays in SF.

Terrific ambience, price & location
The hotel is located on Nob Hill next to other prestigious hotels and not far from Union Square and the Financial District. The cable car runs right in front of the hotel. Our room was very quiet and comfortable, although short of closet space for 2 people. The staff was uniformly courteous and helpful. The decor of the hotel was modern and very tasteful.

The Stanford Court is a very nice hotel
We didn't have time to hang out in the hotel or the hotel room, but we wished that we did. It was so comfortable and cozy. The room was at least as nice as nearby hotels on Nob Hill, but the rate was more reasonable. I will definitely stay here again.
