Very classy classic

The Palace was a strikingly handsome older hotel in the Financial District. It is centrally located by Bart, near shopping, museums, and is close to Union Square, the Moscone Center, and Chinatown. But the hotel itself was such a wonderful reflection of the history of San Francisco, with its Maxfield Parrish artwork and beautiful atrium, that we were tempted just to stay home there.

Very nice hotel

This is the first time I stayed in a hotel in San Francisco south of Market Street (usually I stay in Union Square area). I stayed at the Palace Hotel which is a very elegant hotel itself. It is not too far from Union Square and also close to a shopping center anchored by Bloomingdale's and also Nordstrom as well as San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this hotel and will also recommend to my friends.

Fun Loving 50 Something couple

The hotel was located close to great shopping, dining and drinking establishments. We closed down the bars and walked back to our hotel room! It was a great overnight trip to the city.

Union Square is loaded with both high end and more affordable shopping. When you get tired of shopping there are many great bars and restaurants to rest your weary feet!

Great Value

The Palace hotel is beautiful in every way. Indside and out the hotel looks great. The amenities are nice too. They have a cozy pool, jacuzzi, and a sauna to help you relax after a fun night. The concierge was great in helping us find places we were looking for. The maid was kind and made sure we had everything we needed. All of the staff was helpful, from the doorman, to the check in desk it was a great place to stay. It is located in the financial district so its a stroll away from union square and china town. Wall greens and rite aid are nearby so if you ever need any last minute items its close. Since its on market st. it is right in front of the BART for the SFO airport, also the bus stop to go to Fisherman's wharf, and taxis are always standing by the hotel if you don't want to take public transportation. If you want some nightlife there are a few nearby but I went to the Castro for that by the F line and just took a taxi back. It was a wonderful hotel and I would definately come back.

there are several stores nearby. If you are short on cash fast foods are always an option and a liquor store is nearby. Though the hotel has a bar and restaurant near the lobby.

A Pefect Stay

The Palace was extremely convenient to the most popular of sites to see! The staff was friendly and cheerful the moment I walked through the front door! 1 block from public trnasportation ( the Bart and Muni) and walking distance to the Ferry building and Pier 39! A great place for both Business and Pleasure! Would definitely stay again and again!

Still A Grande Dame

In 1875, The Palace hotel opened as the world's largest and most luxurious hotel. In 2008, she remains a beauty to behold. One can experience her old world charm updated with fabulous modern amenities including a lovely pool area , fitness center and spa available at no charge to the guests. The Garden Court, with its stained glass dome, sparkling chandeliers and marble columns is a destination in itself for those who enjoy architecture. There is also a knock-your-socks-off brunch in the Court every Sunday, which I would suggest. I understand the Palace underwent a serious renovation a few years back and as a result, the hotel sparkles. The location was absolutely perfect for exploring the city. All modes of transportation are available nearby --- but walk if you can! There is just so much to see.

Great Hotel

This hotel was great. The building is one of the oldest in SF and it gives the entire hotel this great feeling. Location is perfectly in the middle of Market ST with great access to all sections of the city. I would stay there again in a second.

Grand Old Property

This is a very elegant old hotel. They have done a decent job of keeping it in beautiful condition. There were a few details that needed attention (i.e. broken light fixture in clothing cabinet and hot tub had been out of service for a while)but overall quite nice. The rooms are not as big as a more contemporary hotel, however still sufficient for two guests. Plenty of entertainment/dining nearby and easy walking to the cable car line if you want to take a trip to Fisherman's Wharf.

Palace hotel

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is great especially if you want to be near union square and in the heart of the city. I have stayed at the palace before and enjoyed my stay very much. I highly recommend that if you are looking to stay in a luxurious hotel but still have the being at home comfort feel. Pick the palace. The pool is nice for swimming laps in the evening. The palace is a great place to unwind and relax. They have many accomodations to fit everyones need. The beds are extremely soft and comfortable. You almost feel like you melt right into them.
