Orchard Garden Hotel

Traveling with my teenage son exploring San Francisco for two days. Dropped the car at the airport and took BART to Kearny street (25 min), walked four blocks and arrived at the Orchard Garden. Upgraded (without asking) to a room with a street view. The room was contemporary in design, two very comfortable double beds, great room layout, comfortable and well supplied bathroom. Fantastic room for the price. Hotel location was PERFECT for a walking tour of SF, steps from the Chinatown gate, 4 blocks from Market street, shopping and the powell street cablecar. Walked to North Beach (15min), walked to Coit Tower(20), Fisherman's Wharf(30 min). There is a restaurant in the hotel however we did not eat there. Hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant during our stay. I travel frequently and highly recommend this hotel for both recreation and business travelers. It reminds me of many European and Asian boutique hotels. Overall very happy with our stay and can recommend for the individual, couples or families with older children who are looking for a central downtown hotel with a friendly and comfortable environment.

This hotel worked perfectly for me. It was close to Chinatown and centrally located. The staff treated me very respectfully, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. I prefer to not think about my hotel because that usually involves a complaint and the OG fit the bill. The rooms were well decorated, and though not tremendously spacious, had a enough room to maneuver without feeling cramped. The elevators moved efficiently and came quickly. The eco-friendly rooms almost caused me to choose a different hotel for worry of toilets that did not flush or low pressure showers. Neither of these concerns were warranted as the green-ness did not compromise the ammenties of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel staff was very helpful and accomodating.Location was ideal for transportation and close for all shopping.

Impressed with the cleanliness and condition of rooms especially bathroom. That matters most. Liked the idea of a "green hotel". Within 2-3 block walking distance to Market Street where you can get BART, cable car lines for those who do not like to walk. Cable car different buses can take you to Golden Gate Park, Alamo Square (painted ladies), Haight Ashbury, Ocean etc. We ventured on foot from hotel to Chinatown, Little Italy, North Beach (direction North) and Embarcadero (directly East). By going up Kearny Street you can avoid the big hills. Coming back down is a breeze!

My family, parents en 3 children (17-19-21) , started our California trip in San Francisco. The hotel lay in the center of town, in between all to vistit town districts. In a calm area far away from the touristic Fisherman Warf area. The rooms our great and comfortabel. Staf is friendly. The restaurantfacilities are small , but in the neigbourhood are many restaurants and bars on walk distance to find. Great stay.

This was a truly cool hotel in that it was really close to Chinatown (less than a block to the Chinatown gate), only a few blocks from Union Square, and even walking distance (for those that don't mind walking a couple of miles) to Fisherman's Warf and North Beach. The neighborhood is also safe with tons of great restaurants nearby. And hey, you can feel good about staying in one of the greenest hotels in a pretty green city also.

Very pleasant hotel, very green, and amazingly comfortable beds and linens. Rooms are modest but cozy. Think European. There is a room safe large enough to hold your laptop. Overall space is used efficiently. My room was surprisingly quiet and well-lit given the central location in the city. The only snag was getting a wifi connection. This took 20-30 minutes the first two nights and wasn't happening at all on night three. It was no biggee. I would have asked for assistance had it been an issue. So, that was on me. Do ask if you have similar problems. The staff are very helpful.

The hotel has absolutely great location. It's close to both the financial district if you are traveling for business and it's also close to China Town which has great food if you are traveling with your family!
