OK
The hotel is located well, good decor, small room, needs a reading chair. With two people, one chair (at the desk) is not enough. The green features are admirable and welcome. The recycling bins, electrical savings features, etc. are well done. However, the toilet wastes more water than its specs intend, because it doesn't flush thorough enough and, therefore, requires two (even three) flushes per serious use to get it clean. The hotel is clean. The staff is most helpful. The valet parking is expensive. Surely the hotel can get a better deal. The down bed cover is too hot. There should be a blanket alternative.

Nice hotel. Small room. Ok area.
The hotel is located right by the entrance to Chinatown, which is a big tourist spot. It's an ok area, but walk a few blocks in the wrong direction and you're surrounded by drunk homeless people. The room was small, but well maintained. We had a small window with a view of a parking lot and the back of a building. It was nice to have free wifi, although they did try to get you to upgrade to a faster speed for a fee. Valet parking was the only option and it's $40 a day. The staff were friendly and our room was ready early. When we called for our car in the morning it was brought around promptly. I would recommend this hotel more for business travelers since it's near the business district.

Switcheroo
I prepaid for a room with 2 double beds. Upon check-in I was told that "a guest" decided to stay longer therefore the room I should have gotten was not available. I was given room with king bed and a roll-away. Very disappointed because roll-away is lumpy and uncomfortable. I was told this king room was un "upgrade" and that I would not be charged extra. I doubt that room was an upgrade; there was nothing "extra" special about it.

Great Location
The room was a very tiny handicapped accessible room (low closet poles, sliding bathroom door) on an airshaft. There was a torrential rain that created a lot of noise on the airshaft, but the hotel itself was very quiet. Valet parking was difficult, with limited curb and long waits for the car. Excellent location near Chinatown, Union Square, MOMA and the Financial District.

Fine a place to stay for a day
The room was clean and the staff were very nice and professional. Room service menu was limited but it was delicious. The television was not functioning well. The box for watching movies was broken and there were no maintenance crew to fix it. Disappointing in that regard. The room was blocked by another section of the builiding with the view was that of the rooftop of another building. Rather disappointing. There was only one chair in the room and no tables. I had to have my room service dinner on the bed.

Great location, average hotel
Great location for a first visit to San Francisco. It's right next to Chinatown Gate. Although the hotel claims to be "the greenest in town", we did not notice much energy saving. We particularly liked the fact that we could use their two business center desktop computers to print our maps, boarding passes etc for free - that's rare in a hotel. (Not that green, come to think of it). Our backs hurt a bit from sleeping on their matress. The rooms were clean. The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

just okay
For 10 days I traveled throughout California, so I had several hotel experiences. Prior to San Francisco I was in Napa at a luxury bed & breakfast hotel and had high hopes that Orchard Garden, as a 4 star hotel, would be the same or equeal to my Napa hotel; unfortunately this was not the case. I live in DC and go to NYC a lot...would have to rate this hotel 3 star wanting to be 4 star...it was clean, but the room felt cluttered and slightly outdated. The proximity to Fisherman's Wharf was fair and took me about 30 minutes to walk to the Wharf.
