Historic Nob Hill hotel blends old and new with top-notch steakhouse
The past is new again at this circa-1926 hotel atop Nob Hill. Originally built as a bank, the property features classic stonework, stained glass and decorative touches. The lobby is adorned with Italian marble, rich fabrics and Austrian crystal chandeliers. Guestrooms mirror this classic elegance. The hotel is within walking distance of the city's storied cable cars. Bob's Steak & Chop House, the on-site restaurant, has established itself as one of the best steakhouses in the entire city. West coast lover
Perfect quick getaway
The hotel was wonderful! From the moment we checked until we left it was great. The staff we super friendly and helpful. They hailed cabs for you, opened doors and even escorted you with an umbrella in the rain. The location was great, the trolley stopped right out front! It was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were great to sleep on :) I would go back and look forward to it.

Great Experience
We had a lovely experience at the hotel. We went for a pleasure trip to SF and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was so nice and smelled so good when we walked in. The room was very clean and the bed was AMAZING! In fact, it was so good I just bough a feather bed topper for my mattress. The decor was nice, sheets were great, and even the restaurant in the hotel was decent, though breakfast is not worth the money. Dinner was good though. Overall, I totally recommend it. The staff was so friendly too. You get what you pay for here. And...its location is PERFECT!

A great place to stay!
The staff at the Omni was exceptional. They made us feel immediately welcome. They had a recommendation or two whenever we asked for things to see or places to eat. The Omni is pretty grand, but there was no snootiness whatsoever--even when we walked into marble tiled lobby soaking wet and wearing cheap plastic rain ponchos. The rooms and amenities are pretty typical of a quality hotel. The staff upgraded our room at no additional charge so we ended up with a nice view overlooking Chinatown and North Beach all the way to the Golden Gate. Ultimately it is always the staff that makes a hotel great and this proved to be the case at the Omni.

We had an excellent dinner at Cafe Maria, just off Washington Square. The Caprese Salad is "to die for." It's a pleasant 15 min walk from the Omni and the prices are very reasonable for such quality dining. Eat breakfast at one of the many excellent cafes on Columbus Street.

Slightly old fashioned, great staff
The Omni is well located for the Ferry building, Union Square, Chinatown and Market Street. The financial district is relatively quiet after office hours, many of the local coffee houses do not open at the weekends. There are some nice restaurants close by just a block away, some great places at the Ferry building plus of course the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. The cable car line runs directly outside the hotel but unfortunately it was under construction during our visit so wasn't running and it felt quite disappointing not to have that experience, I'm sure it's a lovely sight and really handy to go up to nob hill which otherwise is a very steep climb up the hill from the hotel! Generally the hotel was well located for us but if you're looking to spend more evening time in union square or at Fishermans wharf there are likely to be better located hotels for you. The Omni is a pleasant hotel. The decor is not modern, more traditional than I was anticipating and the signature room wasn't as impressive as I had expected it to be. The bathroom was small and the carpet in the main room was fairly tired. It wasn't bad but just didn't feel like a luxury experience. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly, the concierge [...]was exceptional and recommended all the restaurants we went to which were great. Wireless was available without charge by registering for the loyalty scheme. Complimentary water would have been appreciated, especially with the signature room but wasn't provided. Other luxury hotels on our trip made water freely available and made a real difference to us. There was iced tea available in the reception area if that's something you enjoy. Overall, well located, friendly staff but slightly disappointing rooms.

Well Seasoned Travelers
5 Star Service for a 4 Star Price
We had a 3 night stay at the hotel.Upon arriving I noted how professional and inviting the valets, doorman, and hotel staff were. It was as if though we were VIP. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the hotel is in a great location (next to Union Square in shopping district). The room was very clean, comfy, and has a traditional, elegant, feel.The rooms are moderate in size, but well appointed.The weekend valet parking fee was reasonable for the area (only $26). This hotel is a great value as they do not charge excessive rates for the quality room and location you get. Would definitely stay again.
