Historic Nob Hill hotel blends old and new with top-notch steakhouse
The past is new again at this circa-1926 hotel atop Nob Hill. Originally built as a bank, the property features classic stonework, stained glass and decorative touches. The lobby is adorned with Italian marble, rich fabrics and Austrian crystal chandeliers. Guestrooms mirror this classic elegance. The hotel is within walking distance of the city's storied cable cars. Bob's Steak & Chop House, the on-site restaurant, has established itself as one of the best steakhouses in the entire city. The property also offers complimentary guided walking tours once a week.
Highlights
- Florentine Renaissance architecture
- Walking distance to the Financial District, Union Square and North Beach
- Succulent steak at Bob's Steak & Chop House
- Complimentary guided walking tours
Rooms
Accommodations (362 rooms, including 20 suites) feature high ceilings and crown molding -- common design elements from the 1920s. Rooms also come standard with flat-screen televisions, plush down comforters, marble bathrooms and robes. Special GetFit guest rooms also feature treadmills and other exercise equipment. One of the suites, the Kid Fantasy Suite, includes a room of bunk beds, bean-bag chairs and games. Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access are available in all rooms (fees apply). Pets welcome (fees apply).
Features
The hotel has received numerous awards, including the AAA Four Diamond Award.
Technically, the property has existed since 1926, though it served as a bank until the 1980s. To put this history into context for guests, third-party guides lead complimentary walking tours around the property and surrounding neighborhoods. The hotel also provides family-specific walking tours, geared toward visitors with young kids.
All guests receive complimentary access to a huge fitness center with state-of-the-art exercise equipment. The hotel also provides shuttle service to Harding Park and Presidio Golf Course, the two closest greens (fees apply).
Enjoy a meal at Bob's Steak & Chop House, which specializes in corn-fed Midwestern prime beef but offers a variety of fish and vegetarian selections as well.
Valet and self parking are available (fees apply).

Great Location, Great Price
The wife and I received a great deal for this hotel. The place is top-notch. Beautiful building and rooms, great location, friendly/accommodating staff, and a great location which is in walking distance to many great areas of the city. Also, most other attractions are a short cab ride away. Highly recommended!

Awesome Stay!
The Omni was a great hotel! All the staff were so helpful and most willing to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The location was within walking distance (for people who like to walk a lot) to many sights, Chinatown, Little Italy, Pier 39, and Union Square to name a few. The room was clean and very comfortable. I can't think of anything negative to say about the Omni. We loved it and would definitely stay there again!

Highly recommend the Hop on Hop off City Tour 2 day pass. This is a great way to see the city and get to and from many of the sights that weren't in walking distance. Purchased that at the Hotel! If you want to see Alcatraz, make your reservations a month in advance. They were sold out at least 2 weeks in advance on our trip.

Ideal location
Valet service is superb. Parking in SF is a hassle and dealing with car parking is difficult at best. The valet service makes having a car in central SF an absolute necessity. The hotel signature room is worth the upgrade: Upper floors and solid elegance. Web access included. Crisp new linens and a very comfortable but firm mattress. Business or tourist amenable....Cable car directly out front.... a very relaxing stay for three nights.

A perfect weekend base for Grandma and Granddaughter as they explore the City together.
The professional staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful during our visit. Everyone was eager to answer our questions, to recommend excellent nearby restaurants, to advise us how to reach our destinations, and always with ready smiles and personal warmth to welcome us back from our busy and tiring days. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet, A perfect weekend.

Neighborhood dull on weekends
The hotel is truly a good one but recognize that it is located in the financial/banking portion of San Francisco. As a result, there are closed banks and closed restaurants in the area on weekends. It is not a far walk, however, to Market Street. Otherwise, the hotel restaurant is quite overpriced and there is no hotel lobby shop at which you can purchase small items that you may have forgotten.

Great Stay in The Heart of San Francisco
I chose the Omni because of several reviews describing their exceptional customer service. The Omni did not disappoint. We felt welcome from the minute we arrived until we left. Front desk, concierge, doorman and maid service were all outstanding. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Another selling point was the hotel's central location. Many destinations including Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, Nob Hill and Fisherman's Wharf were within walking distance or by cable car outside the hotel's front entrance. The only downside was $50/night parking. I will come back to the Omni SF again.

Fun in San Francisco
Our stay at the Omni San Francisco was wonderful. The location is perfect for walking around and seeing the sites. Also, the Cable Car stop was right outside. The restaurant within the hotel was wonderful. The staff professional and courteous. The room was spectacular. My only note would be that I didn't like the light switch being outside of the bathroom door - not convenient when one person is up at night and another is sleeping. But that was a very small item. Our overall experience in San Francisco was wonderful and we will visit again and would defiitely stay at the Omni again. Thank you!

Good experience
Staff is extremely friendly. The room is ok but could be better for the price range. Beds are quite good. I had to turn off the A/C because it made too much noise. If you need to go to the airport take the hotel limo, costs about the same as a taxi and its so much more confortable.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you walk 10 minutes south and turn right on Market St there's a very nice shopping area with movie theaters, restaurants, etc. Also, walk 10 minutes east and you'll be in the embarcadero tram line, just 15 minutes ride to Pier 39.
