Nob Hill Hotel

We chose this hotel because of it's relative low cost and location. Other reviews were mostly positive and some aspects of the property were very good as noted by others. Our experience was not very good from the beginning. We arrived slightly early and asked if our room was ready, we were told it was not and to come back at the stated 3pm check-in time. When we returned, the room was still not ready. When we were finally told we could check in, the room we were given had not been cleaned from the previous occupants. The bed was unmade, and there were beer bottles and food containers strewn around the room. When we informed the front desk, they wanted to make us wait until this room could be cleaned. We protested and were finally given a different (upgraded) room. The rest of the stay was thankfully uneventful. The property does have quirky charm and the room was comfortable. What we found lacking was the ability of the staff to offer much information about the area. We asked for recommendations on dining, transportation, etc. and did not get much help.

Disappointed that parking cost an additional 35. Our room was small, but we did enjoy the overall decoration of the place, though the wi-fi did not work there. More disappointment followed with the annoyed attitude of the front desk. We also noticed some "sketchy" moments, such as giving a key to a guests room without the guest knowing. We wish we would have checked Yelp before we made our reservation.

This place was way too much money for the tiny room. The water pipes rattled everytime people turned on water making it hard to sleep.

The staff was limited, the rooms small with VERY little lighting and no full length mirrors. There was only 1 luggage cart for the entire hotel, and when we arrived it was being used by workers who had parked in the valet parking spot, leaving us nowhere to park, taking down large amounts of garbage downstairs.

I booked this hotel for friends that were visiting for one night. When they went to check in, they were told that the booking was for the day before (which was not true), and they would have to pay again for the current night at full price. Once I gave the hotel the confirmation number, the concierge conceded that the booking was correct but then claimed that I had booked a double bed, not a queen bed. Again, I had to argue that I paid for a queen bed, not a double bed (the queen bed is more expensive), until he finally gave my friends the appropriate room.

My experience was coming to SF for a job interview. I stayed at this hotel the night before ... this hotel made me late. I left over 2 hours in my schedule to get checked out and get my car out of valet. The front desk said it would take 15 minutes to get my car from valet. It took AN HOUR! The front desk said it would take 15 minutes to get a guest checked out and the bill. It took AN HOUR. Horrible experience. I will never stay here again.

For $114 (with tax) the hotel was a great deal. Location was very good for the price. Staff was very helpful with bus route information. Valet parking for $34 per night was very convenient considering local parking garages were $28-32 per night. Room was very small, which was fine since we just needed a bed. Bathroom and shower were clean, but the carpet needed to be replaced. Coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge all in room, but none seemed to work..? If looking for a good location near downtown, but amenities and space aren't needed I would recommend it. If you have high standards don't bother.

While on a hybrid birthday/business trip to San Francisco, we decided to stay at the Nob Hill hotel. The location seems to be quite quaint and located relatively near the SF hotspots. However that is where the good parts of the hotel end, expensive parking ($40/night+tip), tiny room (<200 sf), a bathroom that smelled moldy, classical fixtures that feel out of place, and a bed that was scratchy and felt like it was about to break! I would recommend this hotel to those travelers whose objectives are either to just sleep, or enjoy historic hotels, but to all other travelers: you can do better!

This is a great place for a business traveller who isn't going to spend much time in the room. Definitely could use a thorough cleaning and the room was quite small. But perfectly usable and a great location. And the staff were friendly.
