San Francisco holiday

The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was stuffy though and the windows didn't have screens in them which made me a little nervous about keeping it wide open. Also the bed was located up against the window so I couldn't have it opened too far at night.

Four day get away

our antisapation was met when we got out our cab. We checked in and were awed by our room. Quiet no city noise what so ever! Was a little disappointed LOL. Breakfast was light, but that was fine as we were headed to Chinatown for lunch. Not a bad walking distance, I am 72, couch potato and did fine. Sure our next trip to the city will find us at the Nob Hill hotel.

Too much money

This place was way too much money for the tiny room. The water pipes rattled everytime people turned on water making it hard to sleep.

Nob on the Hill

The hotel is located on Nob Hill as it's name suggest. You can get there by bus or walk from Market, although the climb is a steep. You can get anywhere from here pretty easily and the neighborhood is fairly safe from my short stay there. The rooms are small with "old-fashion" elements if that's your taste. I would stay there again.

Nightlife tip: Long walk from hotel

I recommend that you go to Toronado on Haight St. If you like good beer that's cheap and up to meeting interesting characters.

More exercise going to the restroom than during ourHalf Marathon

The hotel was very old and very victorian. The rooms were small but cozy. However someone left us a little something in the toilet. When we told the front desk they immediately had someone come to our room to investigate. The staff member flushed the toilet and said it was broken and they would fix it. We needed to be somewhere so we left for a couple of hours. When we returned the front desk said it was fixed. It was not fixed and we spent the rest of our stay going up and down 4 flights of stairs to use the lobby restroom.

great

The Nob Hill Hotel was like taking a step back in time. We truly appreciated the nostalgia and ate breakfast at Dotties down the street and it was delicious! The staff was very kind and helpful.

Dissapointed

Disappointed that parking cost an additional 35. Our room was small, but we did enjoy the overall decoration of the place, though the wi-fi did not work there. More disappointment followed with the annoyed attitude of the front desk. We also noticed some "sketchy" moments, such as giving a key to a guests room without the guest knowing. We wish we would have checked Yelp before we made our reservation.

a step back in time!

The hotel was quaint and very old. The elevator was one of those old gated lifts from the early 19th century. Everything was nice, but the hallway smelled VERY musty, and the walls were paper-thin. The continental breakfast was good, and the front desk staff was very accomodating with directions and even got me some tea when all that was left was coffee.

Try the Moroccan restaurant two blocks away. It's called Aicha, and they give you delicious bang for your buck! It's BYOB, so head to Napa beforehand and stock up!

The last option

It fulfills the basic need of providing a place to crash in at night for tourists. If you are expecting more than that, then look for other places. I did read not-so-good reviews online but I wanted to spend minimal for a place which I would only use for sleeping so can't complain much. Forget about the garish look and feel of the place but it can be atleast a bit cleaner. The basin in the bathroom was clogging, the floor and bed both seemed alive with creaking and squeaking. :) Maybe they would have fixed the basin if I would have notified them but I always forgot. Otherwise the staff was helpful.
