Good weekend

The overall experience is really good. Just two negative points to mention: the garbage truck that comes in the middle of the night (is really noisy) and the elevator (is really really slow, be pacient).

Great location, chic hotel

Hotel was modern and chic, in a great location in Union Square. Room was nice and clean (brick feature wall is a nice touch), with comfortable bed, but a bit noisy at night. Arm yourselves with ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

Great spot for a solo traveler

The room was small and there aren't a lot of frills (I don't even think you could rent movies via the in-room flatscreen TV) ... that said, the location was perfect and the fact that breakfast was included was a real bonus.

Reasonable, nice, great location!

The hotel staff was very nice, other than the fact that even though you pay for your room ahead of time, they still take a card for "incidentels". This is fine, but there should be a clearly visible sign that notes you will be charged160.00 for those incidentels, and the difference in using a credit card and debit card should also be clearly noted. Without notification by hotel staff. Room was great, location awesome! Perfect for young couples!

Inexpensive Chic Hotel Tucked in a relatively quiet corner in Union Square

The price can't be beat. Beds are really comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. In the room, I imagined the interior designer must have been an artsy type that painstakingly shopped for the perfect furniture pieces in antique stores and gave them all a major modern face-lift. There is jazz playing in a beautiful 2nd floor bar lounge every night! The hotel sits in a relatively quiet corner because there is a street tunnel right next to it...so not a lot of foot traffic and yet it is just steps away from everything union square offers. Plus, the staff is so incredibly professional and nice. The cons, as others have stated, are the incredibly loud garbage trucks that come at 4-5am. Tip: avoid the north side of the building (odd numbered rooms) to avoid the garbage truck noise.

Complimentary breakfast from 7am-10am is really worth it. Also live Jazz and dinner/cocktails every night on the second floor bar lounge.

better than expected

Friendly staff, very clean, good for single travelers. It could be better if the breakfast is a little better.

Small, Cozy but Noisy Room

The hotel was fine but when we arrived a bit early, we knew that room will not be ready. However, the person at the front could have been a bit more helpful by trying to get the room done as soon as possible. We had to ask when we saw several people checking out that if the house keeping could be contacted to get the room ready a bit early. That's when the room got done. The room was also very noisy, especially over the weekend, when they had a band playing in the hotel's second floor while our room was on 4th floor. The building being old, the acoustic was not suitable for them to have a band playing late into the night.

Super location, comfy beds

Loved the location of this hotel. The staff and manager were very friendly. My husband and I hunt out boutique hotels and this one fit the bill. We did find the rooms tiny and a bit dirty. Tried not to think about it as the beds were super comfy. Any room on the 3rd floor or lower will be listening to a live DJ until 11pm...not to great when you have to catch an early flight. The showers were usually cool with not so great pressure. Probably would try another hotel next time.

Hidden Vine wine bar, very quaint with extensive wine and cheese selections. 36 floor of the Hyatt for cocktails which overlooks the bay, great views.

good location, friendly staff

great little hotel right near union square and just below china town. the staff was friendly and helpful. while the room was small, it was perfect for one traveling on business, though would be great for a weekend of fun too. it's a no-frills kind of place, but clean, comfortable bed, nice shower, free wi-fi, and all the basics in a simple and stylish package.
