Excellent value hotel

Victorian decor, B&B style hotel. Great hotel, short walk to Fisherman's Wharfe and other tourist areas. Staff very helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast included, constantly refreshed by staff. Lots of restaurants just a short walk away on Chestnut Street. Public bus to Golden Gate Bridge, 2min walk from hotel.

What a find!

The hotel was more than adequate, although the building was of the older variety. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was extremely helpful with every aspect of our stay. The only problem we had was with the hotel's wifi. Other than that, everything was a charm.

NO PARKING!

This is a decent motel, but they offer NO parking. Parking in San Fran is a NIGHTMARE (trust me, I'm from NYC...this is worse). You have to move your car every 2 hours. However, the staff here is friendly and if you are using public transit, the 30 Bus is around the corner. Only stay here if you don't have a car, are using SFMTA public transit, and are not worried about parking.

Excellent Location, Very Helpful Staff

This hotel is in a great location, close to the 30 bus stop on Chestnut Street and within walking distance of the Lombard Street cable car. Fishermans wharf is just a walk across the park. The breakfast provides a good start to the day although it does lack variety. The reception staff were particularly helpful and were always welcoming and friendly. The room we stayed in was nice although it could get rather warm as there is no air conditioning. If the window is left open at night it can be noisy. Overall, an enjoyable stay, good value for money.

Marina Inn is in an ideal location

Marina Inn is in an ideal location for exploring San Francisco, particularly as Yolande and Ashesh on reception are treasures with information and advice. Minuses for some may be no on site parking and it is on a busy road,. We stayed in 212 which has not 1 but 2 bay windows. We love to people watch so perfect, and we slept with earplugs so no problems with the traffic noise. The continental breakfast is adequate - porridge, hard boiled eggs, muffins, and good coffee - a good start to a busy day. Would definitely stay here again.

Good nite

This hotel was in a quiet neighborhood close to a couple of bus stops. A couple of city blocks and there are a few options for eating. Mel's Diner on Lombard Street was great.

Very Basic

I just used it to sleep and to be picked up for tours. There is not much else anyone can do. I noticed people with their laptops who had to use the hallway or the bottom of the stairwell. I could comment on those who bring their laptops with them on vacation, but why bother. It just seemed disorganized. There are no air conditioners. I don't recommend ordering from the in-room menu. For breakfast, you do get milk, orange juice, banana-walnut bran muffins, and hard-boiled eggs. This is a good stay for those who want to be near Fisherman's Wharf without all the noise and surrounding creeps.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Great for those on a budget. Travelers will have to walk a mile to get to the center of the wharf. The MUNI bus #30 (which is a block from the hotel) will get you to the beginning of the Wharf (less than 5 minutes).

Very nice and affordable

We spent 7 nights in this wonderful hotel! Its clean and the location is perfect. We stayed in room 305 facing Chestnut St. It wasnt too loud at night. We travelled all day and came back at night to a clean nice smelling room! The only weird thing was that we called the night before to confirm our reservation. The lady at the desk said we were booked only for 4 nights when we were actually booked for 7 nights. She supposedly made a correction. When we arrived at the hotel, there was someone else at the hotel front desk and she too said we were booked for 4 nights. They did make the correction again! Phew!
