SF over nighter

Luv'd the Bay Area. Cable cars were cool and Chinatown food great. Piers were also nice. Hotel was nice and looked upscale but very old. Piping and electrical conduit exposed. Old steam radiator heater. Sorta like the overpriced Beverly Hills Hotel rooms in the old section except this overlooked a roof instead of the kitchen dumpster. Staff was very nice.

Acceptable

The hotel room was clean, dreary due age and lighting. The room was quite small, but I suppose that is to be expected for a cheap hotel near Union Square. The noise level was a bit high -- not just due to normal city sounds, but also because the building is old, the plumbing makes a lot of noise, and there is little insulation by floors and walls from other ambient noise (guests, etc.). The heat didn't work very well and the bathroom window is slatted, and although it folds up to close, does not insulate very well. The location and price are great, but overall, the hotel is unexceptional. If you're looking for a bargain and good location, perhaps this hotel is for you, but even so, I would consider looking elsewhere first.

Short stop in SF

This hotel was good for our needs - small rooms, but anyone who has traveled at all in Europe on a moderate budget has experienced worse. The deal was good, especially for the location and the cleanliness and expediency of employees.

Short stay

Staff very very helpful. Had to change rooms due to noise but staff very accommodating. Room was very small but spent very little time there so not a problem. Said bed was a double but more like a full bed so might be a bit small for a couple.

San Francisco weekend getaway

Fabulous!! The staff ~ all of the staff from front desk to bar to doorman ~ were very genuinely friendly and conscientious. The room was small but cozy. The bed very comfy and the hotel well built and quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return soon!!

Mamacita is a really great Mexican restaurant. Go early and enjoy a glass of wine in any of the many small wine bars in the neighborhood.

Gay Pride Weekend

The hotel was nice and cozy. A little higher price because of the pride weekend, but definately on the lower end compared to other hotels. Queen room was small, definately couldn't have more than two people in there. Staff was friendly and gave great directions to places we were going. There was a cabaret show in the bar the first night and it was a 20 dollar cover and two drink minimum. We probably would've gone had the hotel gave us some discount tickets or compt it for us. There's a Walgreens accross the street that is perfect for things forgotten or to grab snacks. Hotel was definately clean and safe.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Get a MUNI pass at the Walgreens. They are good for trolley's and MUNI busses. There is a Trolley stop right at the corner that took us to Market street everyday. Otherwise the trolley is $6 a trip
