Intimate boutique lodging near Fisherman's Wharf

This boutique-style hotel is one of the newest in Fisherman's Wharf, and it's also one of the most intimate. From the outside, a brick façade makes the place look like any other wharf building. From the inside, though, an inviting lobby (fireplace and all) and cozy guest rooms invite visitors to stay a while. The property offers complimentary weekday limousine service to the Financial District. There are two restaurants on-site; for Happy Hour, try local elixirs at the Enoteca Musto Wine Bar.

Highlights
  • Located within walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and the Embarcader
  • On-site wine bar
  • Complimentary limousine service to the Financial District
Rooms

Considering how retro-looking the building is, accommodations -- 313 rooms and eight suites -- are downright modern. All rooms come standard with flat-screen televisions, pillow-top beds, iHome stereos with iPod docking stations and an ergonomically oriented work desk. Many also offer stunning views of San Francisco Bay as well as Wi-Fi Internet access (fees apply).

Features

Neutral colors and crisp lighting give public areas of the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf an ultra-modern feel. However, because rooms are cozy, the hotel conveys a sense of intimacy.

All hotel guests have complimentary access to the 24-hour business center, on-site fitness center and outdoor heated pool and spa.

There's also complimentary limousine service to the Financial District and Embarcadero Center.

Dining

Two on-site restaurants provide diverse dining options. At Knuckles at the Wharf, enjoy tasty cocktails or sandwiches while watching a big game. At Enoteca Musto Wine Bar, sip wine and pay homage to an old Italian family (the Mustos, of course) while nibbling on local cheeses and snacks.

Self parking is available (fees apply).

Great Choice

Welcoming efficient staff, clean updated room includes wifi and iPod docking station. One block to the wharf and a short taxi ride to financial district and union square. Walk to little Italy and China town. For location and price compared to many other higher priced properties you get a great value. Our room rate included a $150 credit to spend @ property, covered valet and a couple of drinks which otherwise would end up on your closing bill. This was our second stay and will stay again next time in the City by the Bay.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you don't plan to drive any long distances, use cabs. Valet and parking costs around city added to your rental rate will end up costing you more than using local transportation and walking in the city is safe. Rent a car only for a long drive and then get rid of it.

Great service and comfy beds, but remodeling construction noise

This hotel is the first Hyatt to truly impress me with 24hr great service by staff and amazing room service food. However, my room faced the courtyard which is undergoing heavy remodeling and the morning construction noise was nonstop. Luckily, I always travel with earplugs but that was an inconvenience. I was already settled into my room and didn't feel like moving or complaining since it was a good price and SF was almost sold out at the time, but usually a hotel will warn you about construction/noise, or they should have put me in a room not facing the courtyard, wondering if they did that because I got the room on a special that disappeared very quickly. Location to Wharf/Alcatraz is great. about a $10-15 cabride to Union square, castro. They kept pushing local transit on me but I am not that kind of girl. Compared to regular street noise in Union square hotels, this was tolerable and beds are very comfortable, bathroom and room modern and clean.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Visited Alcatraz on Pier33 for first time and had a fantastic day with friends. Relaxing boat cruise, tour and stay as long as you want to walk the prison and grounds, with the tv show coming up, this was truly a fun experience. and GREAT views of the city. Oddly felt like a trip to the spa, SO RELAXING. Don't buy scam boat cruise on pier39, does not give you inside access. PIER 33 only!

Hotel was okay, not bad.

The hotel lobby is very nice and breakfast at the hotel restaruant (Knuckles ?) was absolutely fabulous. The staff was friendly and the service was great. The room and pool area were nice, but not great - they seemed a little old/worn. Overall, we enjoyed our stay; we just weren't overwhelmed with excitement by the hotel or the rooms. If you want to be close to FIsherman's Wharf, it is a good place to stay.
