Nice Hotel in Financial District

Joe Dec 21, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Overall the hotel was very nice, but my biggest gripe was that they charged for internet access. $10-$15 / day depending on ... speed. Sure, I got reimbursed for it, but really who charges for internet access nowadays? The Financial District is a bit boring, so you'll have to go elsewhere to find fun stuff (especially at night).

We were very happy with the room, which was not an upgrade but did have a sliding glass door we could open and enjoy the ... sights of The Port of San Francisco and the Bay Bridge! The attitudes of everyone we encountered who worked there were all positive, helpful, and extremely courteous which contributed to our wanting to return to this wonderful hotel on our next trip to San Francisco! Also, the location was perfect! We were not disappointed at all for our selecting Hyatt and with being extensive travelers, we do recognize the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel. The Hyatt Regency was a GREAT hotel!!!

Great Weekend Getaway

Everything was wonderful from the time we arrived until we left. We took in Pier 39, the Motown Madness Review, great meals ... and the 49er/Jacksonville game (49ers won impressively). I just wished the restaurants or cafe would stay open past 10-11p. Looking for a snack after 1030-11p was a challenge.

Honeymoon Hotel with a View

Honeymooner Nov 30, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This hotel was Amazing. Booked it site-unseen for our Honeymoon. It was fantastic. Our room looked right over the Ferry ... Building into the bay. Room was beautiful and spacious. Trolly turn reverse was right outside the hotel front door making access easy. Also cable car stops right accross the street. Only thing to consider, this is a business type hotel in a business district. Come 9-10pm there was little to do in the area, but public transportation was 1 min away to take us elsewhere in the city. Nice clean safe area!!

this hotel is very nice, except they need to update the bathrooms. There was slimy mold in our shower/bath combo and the ... shower curtain was slimy. Best place to stay in SF!

June Oct 5, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

We always stay at the Hyatt Embarcadero when we visit SF. The Hyatt has beautiful rooms, great service and it's a great ... location. During the winter holidays it's beautifully decorated. One of the best things is the BART entrance is right next to the hotel. You can take the BART from SFO or Oakland airport and back. So convenient, safe, quick (20 min to SFO)and inexpensive! We also took BART to Berkeley to see the Cal vs USC game. That was convenient because we could shop until the last minute on Powell and Market (Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, etc.), take the BART back to the Hyatt to drop off our shopping bags and head out to the game. The train was around 30 minutes. From downtown Berkeley we took a free shuttle to the stadium. That beats going early to the game just to get a parking space. The hotel is also located across from the Ferry building which has great places to eat and shop. It's also close to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Every weekend there is an arts and craft fair in the plaza between the Hyatt and the Ferry building. Taxi service is right in front of the hotel to all points in SF. The trolley car also stops by the Hyatt and next time we plan to take that to Chinatown!

If you're afraid of heights this is not the hotel for you...as far as walking the hallways. Once you make it to your room, ... everything is gravy. Amazing location. We took the subway from the airport and it stops 20 feet from the hotel. Easy access to public transportation no matter where you want to go. Had a little issue with some dirty pillow covers when we first arrived...but room was clean. Did not like that the sinks are outside the bathroom. Lack of privacy there if you are traveling with a friend or what not.

Would recommend to a friend!

First trip to San Francisco,it was a fabulous trip. The weather was crazy, Saturday was hot, late afternoon started to get ... cool, Sunday was windy like winter, Monday was cool, Tuesday was pleasant. Hotel staff was outstanding, arrived mid-day was able to check in early. Hotel is in the middle of everything, took the Bart to and from the airport, as you exit the station the hotel was right there. The concierge were outstanding, helped with suggestions on getting around, etc. Took the Wine Country tour shuttle, it was really nice, the fee does not include the wine tastings, the return trip was on the ferry, a nice touch. Took the Golden Gate transit to the Golden Gate Bridge, walked across the bridge, caught a bus from this location to Sausalito, remember to ask the driver for a transfer. Did all of the other must see venues i.e. Fisherman's Wharf,Chinatown, etc. I will definitely be returning.

For entertainment/transportation, we would definitely recommend the City Pass. Cable cars are a must in San Francisco, and with City Pass, you have unlimited rides on all public transportation for a week.

--Missy, South Carolina Oct 12, 2009

Money savers tip

Only rent a car if you have to. There is plenty of public transportation available, and using the hotel parking garage is very expensive.

--Big Party, San Francisco, CA Oct 11, 2009

Shopping tip

You can take BART right outside the hotel to Nordstroms, etc at Powell and Market (Just two stops).

--June, La Canada Flintridge, CA Oct 5, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Bart trolley system all at your door steps.

--BRONX BOMBERS, Bronx, NYC Sep 17, 2009

Entertainment tip, Short Walk

if you want to get around SF fast, avoid the cable cars and trolleys, always packed, use the buses and the MUNI instead, will get you there quicker, for a cable car ride without the lines, avoid the powell and bay st. lines especially on the weekends, ride the California line right outside the HYatt Regency and then connect at the top of the hill with the Powell....no lines ever at the California line......only negative you will experience in S.F....lots of homeless, sometimes can be mentally ill and aggressive so be aware, otherwise enjoy your stay at this top notch hotel and city.

Entertainment tip, Short Walk

Ferry Building - great on Saturdays but a treasure anyday - we had dinner outside with a wonderful view and took home some souveniers too. Also walking distance from Union Square and Chinatown and the cable cars stop just in front of the hotel doors - thus easy access to the entire city

Dining tip, Long Walk

You are in the middle of the financial district. After 7 pm good luck finding a restaurant open for dinner as well as breakfast in the morning without taking the BART to Market Street.

--Connecticut Yankee, Greenwich, CT Aug 24, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Long Walk

If you plan to do the bike ride from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito.....Blazing Saddles at Pier 39 had a decent deal. Mention "I heard this was a great ride" and get 10% off. Walking from the hotel is approximately 1.3 miles or you can hop on the muni.

--Youngboos, Irvine, CA Aug 19, 2009

Nightlife tip

A lot of the stores and restaurants in this area close early because it is the business district.

--Patsy, Michigan Aug 9, 2009

Time savers tip, Short Walk

Renting a car for a week is a waste of money. If you lan on driving off the bay, rent the car on that day. The trollies, BART and busses run every few minutes and take you anywhere you want to go.

--Grandma, Charlotte, NC Aug 9, 2009

Dining tip, In Hotel

In hotel dinning is over priced.

--Eric's Mom, Dayton Ohio Aug 8, 2009

Money savers tip, Short Walk

buy your bottled water across the street at Walgreens for 1/3 the price of what they try to charge you in room.

--Mike, orange county Jul 20, 2009

Time savers tip

If you can, flying into Oakland is so much easier than SFO. Airport is smaller and less crowded. Take the AirBART shuttle from the airport ($3.00) to the BART station, then take BART ($3.80) right to SF.

--NW transplants, WA Jul 20, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

Alley dining reminds you of Europe.

--Rob, Sacto, CA Jul 19, 2009

Dining tip, Short Drive

everything you need is within 5 minutes of the hotel in both direction for shopping and entertainment
