This was an unbeatable deal on a great hotel room. Lobby and rooms were beautiful and classy. this hotel is very nice, except they need to update the bathrooms. There was slimy mold in our shower/bath combo and the ... shower curtain was slimy. I don't expect to find that in a Hyatt grade hotel. Also, there was a noisy party at a connected restaurant directly below our room until 2 am. No apologies from the hotel. Beautiful lobby.

For entertainment/transportation, we would definitely recommend the City Pass. Cable cars are a must in San Francisco, and with City Pass, you have unlimited rides on all public transportation for a week.

Best place to stay in SF!
June Oct 5, 2009
We always stay at the Hyatt Embarcadero when we visit SF. The Hyatt has beautiful rooms, great service and it's a great ... location. During the winter holidays it's beautifully decorated. One of the best things is the BART entrance is right next to the hotel. You can take the BART from SFO or Oakland airport and back. So convenient, safe, quick (20 min to SFO)and inexpensive! We also took BART to Berkeley to see the Cal vs USC game. That was convenient because we could shop until the last minute on Powell and Market (Bloomingdales, Nordstroms, etc.), take the BART back to the Hyatt to drop off our shopping bags and head out to the game. The train was around 30 minutes. From downtown Berkeley we took a free shuttle to the stadium. That beats going early to the game just to get a parking space. The hotel is also located across from the Ferry building which has great places to eat and shop. It's also close to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Every weekend there is an arts and craft fair in the plaza between the Hyatt and the Ferry building. Taxi service is right in front of the hotel to all points in SF. The trolley car also stops by the Hyatt and next time we plan to take that to Chinatown!

If you're afraid of heights this is not the hotel for you...as far as walking the hallways. Once you make it to your room, ... everything is gravy. Amazing location. We took the subway from the airport and it stops 20 feet from the hotel. Easy access to public transportation no matter where you want to go. Had a little issue with some dirty pillow covers when we first arrived...but room was clean. Did not like that the sinks are outside the bathroom. Lack of privacy there if you are traveling with a friend or what not.

First trip to San Francisco,it was a fabulous trip. The weather was crazy, Saturday was hot, late afternoon started to get ... cool, Sunday was windy like winter, Monday was cool, Tuesday was pleasant. Hotel staff was outstanding, arrived mid-day was able to check in early. Hotel is in the middle of everything, took the Bart to and from the airport, as you exit the station the hotel was right there. The concierge were outstanding, helped with suggestions on getting around, etc. Took the Wine Country tour shuttle, it was really nice, the fee does not include the wine tastings, the return trip was on the ferry, a nice touch. Took the Golden Gate transit to the Golden Gate Bridge, walked across the bridge, caught a bus from this location to Sausalito, remember to ask the driver for a transfer. Did all of the other must see venues i.e. Fisherman's Wharf,Chinatown, etc. I will definitely be returning.

Traveler type: Family
if you want to get around SF fast, avoid the cable cars and trolleys, always packed, use the buses and the MUNI instead, will get you there quicker, for a cable car ride without the lines, avoid the powell and bay st. lines especially on the weekends, ride the California line right outside the HYatt Regency and then connect at the top of the hill with the Powell....no lines ever at the California line......only negative you will experience in S.F....lots of homeless, sometimes can be mentally ill and aggressive so be aware, otherwise enjoy your stay at this top notch hotel and city.

This hotel is clearly overrated for the money. Requested a room with a view and received a first floor side view overlooking ... homeless folks urinating in the park! I have a physical walking disability, but this hotel is atrium shaped parallelogram with only one elevator bank located in one corner; my room was diagonally across the atrium from the elevator 60 yards away! The "first class" gym? My garage with a few barbells is more equipped and spacious (which isn't saying much!), and the advertised "pool" does not exist. Finally, the top floor revolving lounge with purported great skyviews was closed to hotel guests in 2007 unless you agreed to pay $40 per person per night to gain access! They would not even allow a free "peak"! Save your money and go to a Marriott!!!

Happy traveler Aug 20, 2009
The hotel has unique beauty and is in a central location. It's location is such that you don't need a car to get to some of ... the more popular tourist spots of San Francisco. Public transportation (BART) is located right outside the hotel entrance so we were able to get from the airport to there with little difficulty. The cable car is also just outside and you can get to Chinatown, Union Square, Lombard Street, and Ghiradelli Square by purchasing a day pass. We had no trouble walking clear to Fisherman's Wharf, but there is also public transportation if the walk is too far for you at a nominal fee. There are plenty of good eateries close by and also lots of opportunities to shop. The hotel concierge is very helpful. Our room was clean and the staff was pleasant. We would stay here again!

We arrived at the Hyatt before 10am and to our surprise......we were able to check in early, which was great! The room was ... very clean, great king size bed, and floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors. A beautiful view of the Ferry Building and Bay Bridge were right outside our windows. Since we were there on a weekend.....we were able to enjoy the Farmer's Market on Saturday at the Ferry Building, which is just a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. Transportation: No need for a car rental....the bart, muni, and cable car are literally in front of the hotel. Since my husband and I don't mind walking, we were able to walk to Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf areas.......just over a mile from the hotel. The Embarcadaro Plaza has several shops and restaurants just surrounding the hotel. For some fun activities....try the bike ride from the wharf to Sausalito. Or hike the Dipsea/Sun trails to the beer garden in Miur Woods. Great location, great amenities, very friendly staff ......we would definitely stay at the Hyatt again.
Traveler type: Couples
If you plan to do the bike ride from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito.....Blazing Saddles at Pier 39 had a decent deal. Mention "I heard this was a great ride" and get 10% off. Walking from the hotel is approximately 1.3 miles or you can hop on the muni.
