The Art-Deco era is alive and well at this boutique Hotel Union Square, which was returned to its 1920s grandeur during an exhaustive renovation in 2008. Today, the hotel features signature staircases and opulent moldings, while loft-like guest rooms boast brick walls and mosaic murals. Another benefit: the world's only Dashiell Hammett Suite, named after the author of "The Maltese Falcon." The property is part of the Personality Hotels Collection. I'd stay again!
Very clean and the staff was friendly. room was really nice and very clean. smaller than whats pictured but it gets the job done. beds are really comfy and it has vaulted ceilings so the room feels larger and a big flat screen tv. the bathroom is large and very nice. right in the middle of everything at union square so you can walk anywhere around there. would stay again there if i visited.

stay here if you don't care about sleeping...
The hotel itself was great...however, the noise levels at night were extremely unbearable--loud sirens, cable car, screaming pedestrians, blaring music, etc...the hotel ought to sound proof their windows it was that loud. I travel a lot for business so I can tolerate some noise, but this was just over the top. The location was great as it was close to shopping and restaurants however there was a extremely high level of homeless people wandering around the area.

great location
The Hotel Union Square has a great location and anbiance. The rooms are small, yes, but the value is great. It is a great place to begin your sightseeing tour of San Francisco. The rooms and surroundings are very clean. The bathroom was very charming and spotless. My wife and I will stay there again.

Greeaaat Location...But Thats About It!
The heat only turned on at night, and after shopping on the second day we returned to find the refigerator taken ot of the room. When we called don they acted as if we requested that...which we did not. The bathroom door wouldnt close..you had to lock it for it to close... Other than that...the location was fabulous....completely in the center of Union Square is unbeliveably fabulous.

good location but not much else
Tiny rooms, no room temperature controls-could even turn off, no AC, small bathroom, didnt seem really clean. Friendly staff and great location except the street noise for rooms facing on Powell(cable cars, trash, etc) at all hours. Said they were doing a major renovation so wait till then before visiting

Our room wasn't huge, but we fit 4 people into a room with 2 full beds reasonably. The decor was nice, things were clean, the concierge was friendly if not a bit disappointed when we didn't need any of his services. The stay itself was nice.

Hotel Union Square San Franzisko
Sehr gemütliches, familiäres, absolut zentrales Hotel in San Franzisko. Cable Car direkt vor der Haustüre, kann dadurch etwas laut sein. Hat kein Frückstücksangebot, machts aber nichts, denn Frückstück- und Abendessenrestaurants sind um die Ecke, ab 4 Uhr früh gibts Frühstücksmöglichkeiten... Um die Ecke auch gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Insgesamt ein für mich sehr positiver Aufenthalt.

Hotel pulitissimo, situato nella
Hotel pulitissimo, situato nella via principale di San Francisco, vicinissimo al capolinea dei Cable Car. Hotel consigliatissimo ma non il tipo di camera, avevamo prenotato una petit room e non vi era spazio per due persone e le valigie!!! Inoltre la finestra si affaccia su una corte minuscola, praticamente non si vede il cielo! Parcheggio molto costoso (30 dollari al giorno più le tasse).
