Repeat Stay

In January we stayed for the first time at this hotel. It was less than satisfactory. The room air system and heater sounded as if it was going to fall apart or explode. So I turned off the air unit so we could hear and eventually go to sleep. One week later we stayed again. This location is close to UCSF Medical Center and works for early morning appointments. One disappointment is that the Mini Restaurant schedule states it opens at 7am and when we arrived we found it closed. I asked the front desk and they told me it was not open until 8am. The time of our medical appointment. Another note was about the room cost This time there was a $100 difference. For the same room and amenities it was $100 less!

MEDICAL TRIP

Our experience with Hotel Tomo was just one night. The one concern we had was the heating unit sounded as if it was going to explode s it turned off each cycle. In order for us to sleep I turned it off. Most other normal hotel services were average. Staff was very friendly.

Best Bang for the Buck!

I rate this property 5 Star across the board relative to the unbeatable price/value ratio it offers. No, its not the Ritz Carlton or Mandarin Oriental, lol, but its not $500+ per night either. The staff (Steve & Jill) and the housekeepers could succeed at ant luxury property with the obvious professionalism and personalities they exhibited during our four day stay. Kid friendly although we never saw kids there. The property is older but very well maintained, and recently was obtained by the highly rated Joie de Vivre Company so look for even better experinces soon. Being in the industry as well, we can say with world hospitality experience that we definitely got what we paid for here.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Close to everything, we had a car to see all the major sites, even Napa Wine country. But right across the street from hotel is huge indoor Japanese Mall and there is a Japanese locals' fave sushi bar inside only open after 5pm and very near to a 15 minute for $15 massage business that was also fabulous!

Nice mid-level hotel

The hotel was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. The location is nice for those who don't mind walking a bit or taking cabs, there's not a ton of activities right near hotel. But hotel is fairly centrally located so you can take cabs most places in the city for about $10.

Nothing Fancy, Great Location, Friendly

Safe 'hood, very friendly staff from front desk to housekeeping, clean rooms, great location: great food nearby in all directions, good shopping nearby, public transit nearby. If I need to say in this neighborhood again, I would not hesitate to stay at the Tomo!
